    Default Link buyers be cautious!

I will not point out anyone publicly but i would like to warn people to really do some research on people selling links here on PAL more recently. It came to my attention someone was trying to sell links from one of my sites - in fact 2-3 people pmed me to ask me about this. After a test myself indeed this was the case and i have never given permission for anyone to work as a link broker for my sites.

With that in mind I just think everyone needs to be extra careful - I would recommend not ever PAYING upfront for any advertising unless you trust the person or know them 100% to be legit. I would also advise not to deal with anyone who sells links from Gmail/Yahoo/Hotmail or any free emailing program - you just cannot trust them.

I know from now on my first question will be - do you own the site? - if they don't the conversation is finished. There are way to many link brokers scamming webmasters on the forums and I am sick of it.

    Peace

If they're trying to scam us I think you should point them out publicly.

Not to sound like a broken record here, but I'm pretty sure that attempting to selling links to PAL members on sites that you do not actually own/control would be a lifetime ban sort of offense.

    Out him/her.

Fair enough - I already reported it to Jeremy and it was handled. If anyone wants to use this thread as a starting point to list link buyers/sellers who are doing these sorts of things that may be a good idea.

My concern was over this thread.

I don't think I've ever requested payment upfront from established PAL members for links.

I do use a gmail address tho!

Anyhow, definitely the right thing to name publicly, I have seen a real influx of link sellers on PAL lately. Since there's no formal marketplace process here, the community is the only tool we have to check fraud + abuse.

Paying up front for a link from a new/unknown member is awful silly, after all it's not a labor or material based transaction - if they own the site takes 5 secs to put up a link and THEN you pay.

You are right MJ "its not a labor or material based" .if the seller is the real owner he can finish the work in sec's , if he delay's you can understand he is not real owner unless its a bulk order.
