Pat - Maybe instead of trying to argue for someone else's opinion from an article you read - why not give your own opinion.

Hi Kaus, I am of the opinion that any legally gained link is a good one, and with Google now showing Tweets in their search results, I am thinking that social bookmarks are gaining in value.

Plus the fact that most of the Social sites have a PR value too, I don't see how they can be anything but good for your rankings. Simply put, the more bookmarks you get tells Google how popular you are, as well as providing extra backlinks.

I don't profess to be an SEO expert, but bookmarking is an easy and legal way to promote your site, without annoying anyone at all (like comment spam!)

Tweet links are nofollowed and most or many of them are redirected through services like bit.ly anyway. They create some visibility but I'm not sure they add as much value as many other social media links.

Google has been indexing Tweets from the beginning of the service, btw. What they are now doing is incorporating Twitter's feed into the real-time search index, which does not appear in most queries.
