Over 75% of my bingo sign ups are women. If you listen to the interview below you will find that the Virgin Games team also back up these figures.
Virgin Games Affiliate Team Interview
In the UK we have had an amazing online bingo boom over the last few years which most affiliates seem to have missed out on.
Glad I'm moving out of bingo now that many affiliates are moving in.![]()
Only know what I've read and obviously going to read false info along the way. To report though what I've heard and keep in mind this isn't backed by anything other than having read it: In Spanish market bingo is supposedly 50/50 or better with much larger male audience than in other demographics.
@MJ was she saying "online bingo". Interesting is there must be a massive market for it because people do play at these US sites, but honestly can't say I've ever heard someone outside of this forum, ever even talk about playing bingo online. I spend tons of time in Las Vegas and in person am once of most sociable people you'll ever meet. I've learned tons of stuff talking to people, just coincidence I'm sure just odd I've never heard online bingo mentioned once.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.
Some succeed because they are destined to, but most succeed because they are determined to.
Good call there Prop and I have to say you're right. I've actually worked with several online bingo operators and run my own portals for like 6 years now and have never heard anyone in public ever discussing online games. I think this might be due to the poor conversion of land based to online players in Bingo.
Think about Poker for a second. Players who play online most likely will play at a casino as well. Same goes for the land based players. Most of them have dabbled at least in the online game.
Poker Players will not convert to bingo. Let's just say that. Casino, somewhat. Most really are just pure bingo players who WILL play a slot or table game while waiting on bingo games to start (or in a slot tournament).
If you're going to attract online bingo players you're going to have to do 99% of it online. Social media sites and of course forums are a great place to find them. They're very into talking about the games and rooms among each other. The games aren't competitive like poker so winning is always smiled at and people don't take it personally.
I'm speaking about US players specifically here. Spain/Portugal is a totally different market where bonuses and tournaments are more prevalent due to the huge number of men playing the games.
Great thread!

If you are creating a site and the primary marketing strategy is via SEO, then create a gender neutral site. While the majority of bingo players may in fact be women, these women are not going to search for terms like "bingo games for women". This isn't comparable to the fitness market where women have a legitimate and valid need to frequent "women only" gyms. They don't want pervs like me staring them down! lol! But in the context of bingo, I honestly think the gender is irrelevant in terms of the site content and in terms of the SEO approach.
From a marketing side, if the primary demographic is women, then that is good information to know. If you buy ads or links, you might want to seek out sites that relate to your business but that are also relevent to women in general. I guess it comes down to how you intend to promoe the site in the long run.
Mostly Women do like bingo, Bingo is offered online all over the world.
MPC has made some excellent points here and I really think he is right on when describing SEO and the irrelevance of gender. For the US market, the majority (80%) of players are female. It's just the demographic here in the North American market. With that being said, all players really search out the same terms. 'Online Bingo Games' 'Best Online Bingo' 'Bingo Bonus Online' 'US Bingo Rooms' etc.
Where gender and marketing comes into play is when you're talking about design, content and the rooms you work with. You want to chose a design that is female friendly, but not too child like. Also a room that has friendly chat mods and easy to understand bonus structures.

I think it is too stereotypical that only women play bingo. You might as go all the way and say that only Grandmas play bingo too, lol.
I think a large portion of men do play bingo as well, if they admit to it or not. No idea why people would hide it. It is not as if Poker is such a manly sport. If you do decide to make a bingo portal, I would not make the design to girly in case any men do find it. You do not want to put them off by having an all pink site. Unless you are wanting to target just men.
