Congrats on your success! I am in a similar situation with my job. As long as you think you can make money online a multiple number of ways I would say go for it.

Thanks guys, means a lot coming from you two. I'm positive that I can make it doing just internet marketing, its just the thought of insecurity that has me worried the most. Worst case scenario I can make $100 a day writing if it came ot that lol. Still, its just scary.

And LOL Kaus, yeah Ranna doesn't enjoy all this as much as I do, but she does like the money and being able to set her own hours now. Money is additive so I think its growing on her. Also, she drove home her new 2009 Explorer today, so she is seeing the benefits some. We still have so much to do, and so much more earning potential as we are far from baller status.

    Congrats Randy, you've earned it!

Don't worry about bragging man, it's great motivation for other affiliates!

And I will just add this... If you did switch over to full time affiliating and something shitty happened in the industry or with your sites or whatever, you are a smart enough guy to figure out a way to make a living online (your twilight sites are a good example)

I think Im about to start feuding with them as well over a hosting issue. This does not surprise me as you are about the 5th person to tell me godaddy sucks this week.

Wow, that sounds like a rough 24 hours man! I have always been told that you shouldn't host your site at the same place your domains are registered.

I think Godaddy is a great registrar, and probably not a bad choice for hosting individual mini-sites. However for VPS's or dedicated servers there are much better companies out there.

My main concern was actually that I could have been out of line cos I was drunk at the time, haha. Like Mark said debates are good and the key isn't to get personal or take it personally.

Ok, I have a good idea for my next debate post.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I just know sometimes when I go back and re-read some thing I post, I sounds like a total asshole when that isn't my intention.

I love debating myself. I think respectful debates are one of the reasons this forum is a notch above the rest in this industry. We are not afraid to tackle any and every issue in this community that presents itself in the poker affiliate market.

IMO the ability to have vigorous debates, constructive arguments and disagreeing with others without getting into the realm of personal insults (or taking things personally ones-self) are all trademarks of smart people... neither you or anyone else here has anything to explain!

Nice post Randy. I can def relate. I think its hard for some us NOT to get heated. This is after all our profession and there is a lot at stake. Especially those who have families to support. I have a hard time too separating my passion for my job (and this industry) and respecting others opinions even if I dont agree with them.

Dude don't worry about it, I've literally never seen you get out of line.

I might be a different story though lol - a good debate is a good debate and this community and all affiliates who read these posts benefit from it, especially the new guys.

Just think man, if none of us posted on taboo or "insider" subjects - the forums would just get boring.

    Keep it coming I say

you need to blog about micro-brewing :-) always wanted ot get one of those kits.

Seriously though, after my post the amount of people IM'ing me went down dramatically

Again, I don't mind talking with anyone, I'm actually flattered when someone wants my advice, but hitting me up and asking my opinion and then trying to convince me I'm wrong, or just saying "well I'll try that on my next site" just pisses me off lol

The best blogs are the drunk blogs! Well... sometimes. You bring up an excellent point. Sometimes I feel like one of those people you describe, except I'm not. I've been harassing a lot of people for help. Like... Graham, Cheryle, J-Man, Brandon, Sebastian, and others over the years. Picking brains, getting ideas, etc is something I value greatly. And I am actually "doing" things based on all that feedback, but sometimes I'm a little slow so it may look like I'm not doing much, but I do what I can.

Having made the transition from "noob who thinks throwing up banners on a website will get me rich" to "person who understands the importance of hard work and SEO to succeed", I try and help out those who are wearing my old shoes. That is the greatest thing this community enables: Get help, and give help back.

Now, can you unblock me please???? hehe! (That's a joke people)

I would like to mention that I've had plenty of help as well and appreciate it! There is nothing better as a new affililiate knowing that someone has taken the time to help you dodge some of the pitfalls. Great post Randy and Thanks everyone!:D

LOL, maybe I should think twice before drunk blogging. The post came out about right though, I have gotten several IM's and PM's this morning wondering if I was speaking about anyone in particular, but really this is just a post about people in general. So please don't think I was talking about YOU.

Just make sure you are not that guy

Like you Randy, I love helping people out and giving suggestions about their sites. But nothing is worse than when people take up an hour of your time, you give some great tips and suggestions, and then they don't act upon them.

Over the years working with affiliates, I have realized one thing; too many new affiliates get into this business and think it is a get rich quick scheme.

Nice post Randy, and thanks for the kind words Doovde, your site is looking great.

I have been lucky enough to get advise from both Greg and Jeremy recently and have appreciated all of it.

Sometimes as a new affiliate its difficult becasue you don't want to bother someone especially when you know they are giving their time free.

Anyway I hope both Greg and Jeremy know that I appreciate the time they have spent with me.
