Nice post bro, all great points, The biggest obstacle at the Merge rooms for example is cashout and moving money. Same for Cake and others. I'm hoping sites will wake up soon and fix this.
Definately could be a part of the equation, but the ABSOLUTE domination of players at Stars tables compared to everywhere else I will almost always attribute to the ease of players getting money both on and OFF the site, which should be a standard focus for any other site in my opinion.
Good point MJ... have a complimentary theory that the $50 sign-up bonus is also part of their success, a lot of players do not want to part with $600 or $1100 on the first try and therefore feel happy with 100% to $50 to start off with 'saving the bigger bonuses for when they win'... and as we know, Stars is good enough to keep them... Definately true Jeremy except it isn't very easy to get those links unless you either know the owner (and they are willing to have a give/give relationship rather than give/take or take/take) or you do something so innovative it commands attention.
Generally I hate giving homepage links. Hence why so many people now days just buy links. It's 100 times easier than haggling over stupid stuff like PR and Alexa ranking with people who have no clue anyways. I learned more about link strategy from Randy Ray than anyone else. I'd take 50 quality links all day long on quality aged pages with pertinent content than 1000 random footer links anytime.
It is sad that I have had some domains for 6+ years that I keep renewing and actually thinking I am going to develop someday. The older the domains get, the harder it is to let them go too. Domaining really is a cruel disease.
That too is a good point John (thanks for a quick exchange btw) I could give a crap about PR unless I happen to be trying to sell it to you. Personally I just like to exchange similar quality for similar quality - like my bonus site for yours. My news site for yours, my rakeback site for yours, etc - assuming we both make decent sites.
Hmmmm I think I know of a sweet free template you can use to develop those I love buying domains, but I hate the constant flood of renewal notices to my inbox. I must get 3 or 4 a day.
The worst part about trading links is having people judge your entire site based on the green fairy dust. It's always frustrating to have people think they deserve a homepage link just because your site is a pr3 and theirs is a 4 or whatever.
