Modern Poker Site Design Can Pay Off in 2010

Online Poker ED has received a few css inclusions! I submitted the site to a few CSS directories but was speculative of whether or not a poker site was likely get rejected even though it looks good for the niche.

There are alot of css galleries out there so i guess i should clean the site up even more and prepare to try to submit the site to alot more of them. Out of about 6 initial submissions, 3 of them were approved. I think if i snazz up some stuff i could probably get a higher approval rate for the second round.

This definitely could be encouraging to some of you members who want to make a great looking site, but didn't know how it could pay off in 2010

It could also be enlightening to members who have personal blogs etc. and haven't thought about the potential value or even aware of the presence of css galleries. There are literally hundreds of them and if a poker site can get in, i'd imagine that a personal / business blog would have a high approval rate.

Typically to be considered for a css directory, the site has to be completely tableless, CSS3 valid, and look clean / stylish.

I recently got back into poker websites with Online Poker ED. As some people know, i made the site solely to sell for a new years trip but didn't get any offers before the trip so i decided not to sell and just roll with it for fun.

Anyways, i also got back into playing at the tables some as well. I love absolute poker, it was the first room i ever played at and i love their sit-n-go structure...

On top of that, as the "sneakiest" room out there, my credit card transaction still goes through smoothly :), i've experienced good payouts via check in the past, and email player support is pretty good.

I figured if im gonna mess around playing i want to make my poker table custom so that i don't get a head ache. I've made a simple custom poker table skin for absolute poker and ultimate bet.

Instructions For Adding Absolute Poker And UB table skins

1. Go to your folder where absolute poker is installed on your computer
2. Go to the data folder
3. Replace the old top.dat file with the new one.
4. Choose the Top view when playing if you wish to use this skin.

In the Top view on absolute poker and Ultimate bet you should now have a new skin to play with, which is simple, matches the sites default colors, and has no branding on it.

Affiliate Links -- Create And Implement A PHP Redirect.

Implementation of a php redirect will allow you to more easily manage your website's affiliate links. All of your outbound links to a particular room will direct to one url. Therefore, you can change all of the affiliate links...for one room...at any given time via one file.

4 Easy Steps I use to Create the PHP redirect file

1. I create a new folder in my websites root directory, i typically like to call mine "go". The name of the folder is not important unless there are language issues with a wordpress plugin your using in which case you'll need to use more than 2 letters to name the folder. You can call it "visit" or "room" or "out" or whatever you like.

2. I navigate to my websites robots.txt file and enter this line:

Disallow: /go
*Disallowing my /go folder will prevent my redirect files to be crawled and safeguard me from boosting the search engine visibility of whatever revenue source i'm linking to. This is important because affiliate sites will often link to programs 5 or 6 times on any given page for conversion power.

3. I navigate back to the /go folder, create a php file, and name it for my particular room. In this case i will create a file for PokerStars and name it pokerstars.php.

4. I open the pokerstars.php file and enter this code with my affiliate url.
