MyPokerLab Officially Launched by PokerTime
PokerTime, promoted by FortuneAffiliates, has been particularly savvy in it's marketing in recent times in a bid to increase traffic to the site. It started with a very popular $10 free no deposit bonus offer for new players. That has since made way for a $200 match bonus, which can be cleared at an incredibly easy $1 for every 1 player point. They have since bolstered this deal by changing their player points leaderboard race to a weekly event, with $10k in prices to be shared between the top points earners each week. With the current levels of traffic at the site, this has meant that nearly all players at the site that are actively playing will receive some type of weekly cash bonus.
You certainly have to give full points to their marketing team, who to be honest, are working with an average poker room software.
Now comes the most recent installment in this long line of generous promotions from the PokerTime crew - MyPokerLab. MyPokerLab looks to be one of the best poker room freebies released to date. Some rooms have floated the idea of poker training documents and websites (such as the Full Tilt Academy), others have dabbled at the idea of releasing free poker calculation software with new signups (i.e Pokerbility - Lucky Ace); PokerTime has gone one step further and combined the two.
MyPokerLab provides players with a free tracking and analysis tools, much the same as you get with expensive software like Poker Tracker (obviously not quite as advanced but good enough for a freebie). The tracking side of things gives players statistics for profit/loss merged with starting hand and positional information, listed in charts in the users account. From the player statistics, reports are formed for the player, providing information on possible leaks they may have in their game.
The MyPokerLab site also has a linear poker tuition model, with lessons on poker fundamentals, poker strategy and a poker clinic available, accompanied by videos and commentary. Their are plans to expand this to include a 'poker bootcamp' course and 'poker coaching' for players. These items are marked as coming soon.
So the software tracks a players play and gives detailed statistics, plus access to a large volume of poker lessons, videos and tips to use based on their statistics reports. Once players download MyPokerLab, they can access their stats and training documents through mypokerlab.com by signing in with their PokerTime account details. What's the catch? Here's the clever part. As you would probably assume, the free player tracking and coaching materials are only available to PokerTime players. The second catch; players need to have played 1000 raked hands before they can begin accessing their statistics and some of the training documentation.
The 'MyPokerLab Community Forums' have already begun gathering some numbers, which may be a good sign that players are already starting to use the system. All-in-all, it looks to be a good marketing move from PokerTime, however I would think it's also a costly one. Hopefully they can eventually acquire enough new players from the new development to cover the outlay on setting a system like this up.
