Hey all, I usually do not write posts for blog sites that have free hosting as I don’t believe many people read them; however, this site does get users that keep using the site and contributing so I thought what the hell. This is my first post on this site and more will follow if I get good feedback.

Finding sites that allow you to post guest posts is hard enough on its own but what makes it even worse is the reply, “sorry, we do not accept gambling related links”. What makes this even worse is they tell you this after you have written the posts, sometimes even when they know the article is going to be gambling related in some way or another.

What gets on my nerves are the SEOs who spread this around and then all webmasters believe them. Especially them who have never worked on a gambling or online bingo site, poker, etc and claim they know what to do. “Oh, you should never ever link to a bingo site,” “linking to bingo sites will get your site banned INSTANTLY.”

These webmasters are programmed and set in this way because of false information, “oh, my site got penalised; it must have been that gambling link I linked to 10 years ago.” I am not saying that some gambling related content may get your site banned as it is true, however it is not because the site is gambling related that your site got penalised but a bunch of factors that could contribute.
  • Is the gambling site you linked to penalize itself? Try Googling the domain name, if nothing comes up then this could suggest that it is.
  • Is the site of low quality? Does the site just have tons of outbound links, does the design look very dated and would you trust the website yourself?
  • Is your site actually related? If you have a site about cars and you link out to 10 online bingo sites in your blogroll link then this could look very suspicious to Google.
  • Do you sell links? If you sell links and you get caught you will be penalised, and what is related to buying links is usually gambling related links.

If you look at any top gambling related site or Google anything such as “poker” or “bingo” how do you think these top ten sites got their? With links of course, and loads of them. This means that tons of sites are linking to them, do you think all 10,000 or so links pointing to such sites have been penalised for doing so? No! The reason a site gets penalized is because of the factors mentioned above, not because the site has gambling content on it, infact any site that does not meet the above criteria may get penalized regardless of its content.

Google does not hate gambling related content and will not penalize your site for linking to such sites; it is other factors that are at work.

True, a gambling site in itself does not suggest it is spam. Look at the other factors like you've suggested.
