Ok, first of all I'm not new to being an affiliate but i have so much to learn it's amazing. I'm one for building sites and not worrying about links much at all, I forget about seo all the time and take things forgranted.
In short, I love mini sites!
Recently I've just had the shittiest time in this business and need to let of a little steam, if anyone has seen the film falling down with Michael Douglas they will know how I feel.
Anyway so far this Year 2010 has been pretty dismal and here's why.
January:
- I discovered a site got hacked and dropped out of the serps totally, costing me a decent lump every month.
- Found 2 more hacked site performing badly due to having hidden links to bang brothers!!!!!
- Later i found another site that i thought was hacked somehow by a plugin and i'm still unsure if that was the cause or not. This site went from 2nd in the serps for a 2000 exact search term a month to nowhere.
February:
- I Got all the above sorted and now have a site that just won't rank for anything at all. I write new stuff, it gets indexed in mins then nothing. This site was one i decided to build in to a large site and a great resource for players.
- Now i just tried to cash out of pokerstars and hit ok, then the cash vanished and it said they have processed my cashout for $0.00, that's nice, maybe I'm paying for the F40 milestone hands.
- In total so far in 2010 I'd estimate I've lost roughly 3000 to 4000 Euro's through being hacked, I've lost my patience, lost my mind and lost the plot.
Still It's my daughters birthday on Valentines day so at least something to look forward too.
Stop complaining and put things right!
If there is one thing I'm not it's a quitter. I'll carry on regardless and work as hard as I possibly can to get everything better than It's ever been.
What I am planning on doing is looking for a mentor to help me banish my bad habbits and teach me the finer arts of link building, seo and help me look at things from another perspective.
Do I need a mentor?
Probably not, it never ceases to amaze me how much info is avalable on PAL, and how most fellow members are willing to help others without question or motive. I need to learn everything almost from scratch all over again, so what better place to be than here?
So that's my first blog post, a little moan followed by a bit of a promise to myself. I know it's not easy being a poker affiliate, but it is probably the coolest job in the World when it goes well.
