I have actually been dreading writing this post. To be honest I am fairly certain that I have never made any "serious" New Year's Resolutions. And if I did, I probably wouldn't have kept them anyways. This year is different though. I feel I have more focus than I have ever had before throughout my entire business career. I feel confident when I say, "I am at the top of my game."
I feel blessed to be in the position I am in today with so many great opportunities. So thinking about what I can change in 2008, the first thing that comes to mind is health. There's no doubt that I am healthy right now, but to be honest I feel as if I could be a lot healthier. I remember working on the ambulance years ago and seeing 40-50 year olds having heart attacks. Likewise look what happened to Chip Reese. I mean, you really can't put a price tag or value on your overall health. And at 31 years old, I need to start thinking long term.
Although it's cliche, my New Years Resolutions involve taking care of myself this year, and changing my eating and sleeping habits. I won't say "getting in shape", because I'm really not out of shape. I could write a bunch of business stuff, but quite frankly I am a do'er and I know these goals will come to fruition. So, here we go. Oh, and it wouldn't be a true Jeremy Enke list without a nice New Years Eve Hottie.
1. Normal Sleep Schedule - Over the past year, my sleep schedule has been a mess. Working with an Australian company did not help either. Typically they were online all night and offline all day. There were times I'd be up until 3:00 AM working. I'm too old for that, so from now on Monday through Friday, I am going to bed at 11:00 every night. Odds are I
mightwill even get laid more in 2008 going to bed the same time as the wife. It's about to be her lucky year, and she doesn't even know it yet.
2. Become an Early Riser - Every success book I ever read speaks about being an early riser. Going to bed at 11:00 will allow me to get up every morning at 6:00 AM. I love getting up early and being the only one in the house awake. I might even use this time to work out.
3. Triathlon Training - Gym Membership - I am joining a kick ass gym by our house. I will never be a weight lifter, but I am a former marathon runner. So I am going to train at least three times a week on the bike, treadmill, road, and in the pool. This summer I will complete my first triathlon of some sort.
4. Eat Better, Drink Less - I eat like shit and have never watched my diet. Luckily I have a great metabolism so I never gain weight. But I imagine my cholesterol has got to be pretty high by now. Likewise I love to drink beer when I am out with the guys. Sometimes when I drink I will partake in a cigarette or two also. Nothing good can come out of either of these things, plus it's not conducive to cross training. So like the other 52,435,732 New Years Resolutions in America, I am going to eat right and exercise.
5. Make More Money Than I Ever Have In My Life - Do any of you reading this really think I would NOT have at least one resolution that involved money? This year I will make more money inside of 12 months than I ever have before in my entire life.
That is all, Make It A Great Year!
