5 Reason Why I Hate Taking The Annual Family Christmas Picture

So every year my wife has the brilliant idea that we are going to get the whole family dressed up, go outside in our back yard, and take a beautiful Christmas picture. Sounds like fun eh?
Allow me to share the story of this years Enke family Christmas picture. Let me set the stage. Yesterday it snowed nearly 12 inches and today it is 20 some degrees today without the windchill.
So we get the kids dressed in the picture clothes and me in my ghey sweater. We make the trek outside carrying kids through a foot of snow with no coats, gloves, or hats on of course. After wrestling with a frozen log on the ground trying to stand it up for a prop to sit on for our picture, I finally get it lifted with nearly frostbit fingers.
The kids are freezing but hey we're in position and look great. "Oh shit" exclaims the mother in law, and our freelance photagrapher. "The batteries are dead". Terrific! back through the snow carrying kids and into the house temporarily. Don't worry kids, just stand on the hard wood floor with all the snow on your boots, it won't hurt the wood.
Alright, the batteries are changed, so we head back out and get in position. After a few Target photo tips from the mother-inlaw (tip head this way, move here, etc.) Snap, Snap, Snap......all done.
With the kids, we head back through the cold and snow and into the house. It felt good to get out of the ghey sweater and back into my comfy Saturday Sweat Sedo.
JEREMY!!!! I hear from downstairs.
Yep, you guessed it, one of the kids wasn't smiling, and even worse there is a filthy looking brown Menards bag in the woods right behind us. So I get dressed back up for the third time in an hour, and head back out into the elements. By this time I am starting to think the Department of Children and Family Services would definetely have a case against us for child endangerment. I mean "come on Karen, this is ridiculous" I am thinking in the back of my mind.
After all, when the idea came up last night I hopped on the laptop and simply photoshopped our beach picture onto a mountain in Norway. So after the third attempt, my lovely wife actually found a picture that she liked.
It's really strange, last week while I was in Las Vegas I didn't seem as agitated when all the girls in bikinis wanted pictures. It must be a weather thing I guess. Anyhow, here is the finished product. The hot blond on the right is my first wife, feel free to click on the image below. Happy Holidays!
