Can You Hear Me Now - Verizon Wireless Sucks

Actually it's probably not just Verizon, all cell phone companies suck. Although a simple google search of the term Verizon Sucks will confirm that there are 1.3 million people who feel the same way I do.

So here is the premise for my venting. I have been a Verizon wireless customer since getting my first cell phone, a Motorola Startac 6000 at some point in the late 90's. I have spent thousands of dollars with these clowns throughout the years. Currently I have a business account with Verizon that has 5 phones on it.

In October after I left AMI, I went to Verizon to get a new phone and add it it the account which I have had for several years. I wanted a Blackberry Storm, but these were still a few weeks from being released. So I just got a BB curve and figured I would upgrade later in the year. The sales associate at the time told me that this would be "no problem at all" to upgrade later.

The reason I need a new phone right now is because I have three international trips coming up and a Blackberry Curve that doesn't work outside of this glorious country I live in. So of course this would be the ideal time to upgrade to the Storm.

So when I go into Verizon, the pimple faced dipshit behind the counter tells me "Sorry sir, you are not eligible to upgrade to a new phone"... Umm okay, well I need a phone that can be used internationally. Of course, I can buy a Storm, but apparently I am breaking the contract with my phone (yes a piece of equipment), it will cost me $550, and this is of course after I send in receipts and purchase codes to get the $70 rebate. <----- This whole fu**** rebate game is one gigantic ponzi scheme throughout the entire cellular industry if you ask me.

Anyways, I'm thinking to myself, am I really about to spend damn near $600+ on a cellular phone when the price on the kiosk says $270? All this because the Storm wasn't available a few months ago. I'm actually looking to add minutes to our business account as well. Keep in mind I probably spend $5k annually with these idiots.

I could understand the hassle if I was looking to break my contract or whatever. But for the love of God, I just want to upgrade to a new phone that will work in the Netherlands without bending over and getting sodomized by Verizon Wireless.

Here's some advice for any Verizon person that may be reading this. First of all, I wanted to come into your store and pay you $279 for a new phone and add another $100+ per month in minutes to my already $5k annual package. I have also been a Verizon Wireless customer for over 11 years. Is it really necessary to punish me by overcharging my business for a cell phone simply because I am looking to upgrade to the latest and greatest your company is offering?

GG verizon, I am going to U.S. Cellular tommorow who will happily take my business and charge me the normal retail price for a cell phone. Sure it will cost me more to break my overall contract, but I really don't care at this point.

Can you hear me now........bitches.

Lol, I love the ending "can you hear me now......bitches"

I went with AT&T because I had heard their global coverage was better than Verizon, which is strongest in the US

All I have to say is I was with them since PRIMECO days - and left the network last year.

I've been happy with At&t also.... Sorry to hear that though. Most times as you all know when you upgrade your account, you're "locked in" for another term...basically until your phone is ready for another upgrade.

So wouldn't it make sense for them to charge you the $279, and sign you up to keep you locked in for another 2 YEARS? Not only that, but the $300 extra they would've made on the phone, is paid by your extra business....i.e the extra $100/month....
And the worst part is, is you KNOOOOOOOW they can do something about it. They could change it if they wanted, especially since most of those aren't even corporate ran, they're franchises....

    Sorry man, that just sucks....

Jeremy should've been like "hey.......do you know WHO I am?????" And then flashed a picture of himself in the pink bunny suit. Sometimes you have to play the celebrity card

you're right about the mail in rebate BS....they say that only 20-30% of mail in rebates are ever redeemed. Just another way for these huge corporations to save a buck.

I'm enslaved to Verizon as well. Around here, they're the only carrier with consistent coverage.

The $500+ price tag on the Storm is actually the retail price for the phone. The only time you get a discount at Verizon is when your contract with them is expiring (or when you're a new customer). They give you the discounted rate only if you sign a 2-year contract to stay with them.

With 5 phones on your account, I hate to think about the early termination penalties you'll end up paying. Personally, I'd just pay retail for the phone, or pick one up on eBay for ~$400.

    Jeremy,

Dont think you are alone when it comes to phone networks...

Im in Canada and after being a Bell customer for 7 years and got into it one day with them for charging me for an internet service that I had dissconnected 4 months before hand.

They told me that there was nothing they could do to help and that I would have to pay the nearly $500 bill that they were presenting me with...

It just so happened that Karma got in their way that day and while i was still going nuts at them, Rogers another carrier called my house phone and offered me a deal that I decided to take and was happy to tell the prick from Bell to cancel all services that I had with them for the previous 7 years as I was changing.

I have now been with Rogers for 6 months and last week got a bill in from Bell for $111 along with a dissconection threat in the letter.

I took the 10 minutes to call up the fu====s and ask them why i had a bill for $111, 6 months after i had left them and they gave me this story.

I told them to take me to court as this was just another money scam on their behalf.

Two days ogo they send me a letter, apologizing for the mistake on their behalf and that if I reconsider moving back to Bell that they will waive any reconnection fees...

Well as Jeremy said perfectly above to Verizon...

You wont have this customer back you suckers!!!
