Time To Get Serious

Some of you that read my personal blog know this pretty exciting news for myself, but I recently bought my first house. Well I bought a lot and am working with a builder that my dad sells homes for to build my house.

It was a tough decision to make with the way the industry is heading right now, but I figured I was better off paying a mortgage for a house I own than paying the same amount in rent at the apartment I'm at. I know there are other expenses with owning a home that will add up, but I'm also having my girlfriend move in and pay rent monthly to cover those costs.

After a couple pretty solid months to start off the year, last month was my worst month of 2011 and it worries me a little bit. I guess with 85% of my income being sports betting it is pretty normal during the summer months though.

Either way the industry is suffering as a whole, and I'm not too sure which programs I can trust at the moment, if any.

I've started venturing off into new areas, and although I haven't had much success yet, I think I can find some other ways to make money. I'm full time as an Internet Marketer now and it is time to get serious.

One of my main projects I will be working on my Women's Fat Loss product and trying to figure out a way to make it profitable. It sucks having to pay for traffic and losing money, but I think if I start testing everything I can make it profitable. I am guessing the sales video is the problem right now as I didn't spend much time on it (just wanted to get the thing live).

Another project I've talked about for a bit now is my Buying Workout Supplements guide. It was in the sandbox for a while, but now looks to be out (hopefully for good?). I've actually made a couple affiliate sales with only 1-4 visitors per day when ranking. I figure if I turn that into a decent site with supplement reviews and a lot of solid content I could make a couple thousand per month down the road.

I don't think I'd ever want to leave the sports betting industry completely, but I do know that I can't have all of my eggs in one basket.

Gambling and health/fitness are two things that aren't ever going away I don't think, so they are pretty good niche's to be involved with (and I'm passionate about both).

Another thing with the women's fat loss product is that you are actually helping someone out, and when you get thanked over and over it feels pretty good. I had also been interested in being a personal trainer but hated science in school, so being able to help women lose weight through an online program is pretty cool.

I'm rambling here, but just wanted to give a little update with where I'm at, and hopefully I can actually start making some decent money in other niche's.

Summer is so tough to sit down and work, but with purchasing a house it looks as if I need to do it. Have a good summer everyone!

    Hey Kevin,

Congrats on the house... I'm still at least a few years away from that and stuck paying rent in the city for the time being... I also agree with it being tough working during the summer, the weather has been real nice as well... Almost too humid in Toronto the past few days...

GL with the house and health sites man...

Cool stuff man, I'm also in the process of building a house and man is it a LOT more work than I thought it would be.

I feel your overall stress, I've been depressed a bit this summer too - feeling unmotivated, frustrated, etc - all of which are understandable when losing accounts and programs combined with the slow months of summer. Good luck.

    Thanks guys.

And yeah to be honest it's a little too much work for me picking out every little detail. I'd much rather have someone else get a general idea of what I want and pick everything out for me, while I relax/work/do anything but shopping for that stuff.

    Isn't that the gf's job?

    Just joking lol...

Kevin - no disrespect but redo the video or edit yourself out of the video. The last thing women want is for a man to explain weight loss to her - hence why you never see a man in the Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers commercial (well except for that Seinfeld guy ...but that didn't air long). It's like sticking a women in your hockey videos ...would your target audience pay more attention to a guy talking about hockey or a women talking about hockey - I would assume the guy. Same deal, use someone that appeals to your target audience. I could be wrong but I don't think I am. Def would be interesting to split test and see which video is more productive - the male/female version or just the female version.

At the house - congrats again!

@Scott - yeah exactly wish I could just send her out there.

That's interesting Cheryle... I wanted to make it personal and make the women feel like they actually have a online personal trainer to help them kind of thing.

Maybe I will write up a new sales video with a women's voice. Possibly my gf but she has a really high voice haha (even though she's 24).

I think the sales video kind of sucks... just need to think out how to change it, as it takes a while to do one.

You can do that if you like. If so what I would do is have your gf or whoever introduce you and explain what it is you do and how it works for women. Or if you want them to feel like they have a personal trainer, make your girlfriend that personal trainer.

Just use what works - women talking to women about the areas they dislike. Your target audience will relate better. And sorry if I am overstepping...not trying to at all. It was the one thing that jumped at me immediately...

    good luck with the site

No overstepping at all, I love hearing views from anyone and everyone. I'm probably only right with what I think 5% or not even - that's why I need to test a crap load.

I'd attempt to go viral. Dress up as a pimp and tell them bitches why nobody likes their fat ass. OMFGLOL!!11

Congrats on the house. I'm also doing that now. Second house I build. I actually like the process personally.

That site was mentioned and it did indeed live up to the hype.

"If you only lost that weight, then he would look at you." lololol

Good opportunity for a plastic surgery upsell.

Are you sure you want the GF to move in with ya? Talk to someone with experience first END OF LIFE LIKE YOU KNOW IT IS NEARING (and frankly, at some point 99% of us dudes are gonna trap into it... sigh)

Joking man, wishing you nothing but the best of luck. Next year around you are gonna announce your GF being pregnant!

@MPC - I don't mind it, but I wish I could sit from home and pick the stuff from a magazine instead of driving all over the city to the different stores and such.

@Giorgio - Haha fingers crossed that isn't for 4-5 years

Just get a video that explains things to the point and hits home with some of the fatties out there. I've been working with my friend LJ a couple of times, find his portfolio here: LJ's videos on Vimeo

I think that style could work well for you and a 1 minute vid is much less of a drag to sit through. Hit me up for his details if you're interested.

Congrats on the house Kev,thankfully my wife handled everything, and I mean everything. I just had to sign a bunch of papers when it was done. That's the only way to go :-)

I think we all feel your stress in the gaming market. Just rough times. I've put a ton of work into a new site totally outside of gaming, and like you I'm testing PPC campaigns and its a different world.

When you think about it, we (Gaming Affiliates) have made money in the most competitive market on the net. If we can do that, we can make money at anything. Combine our SEO knowledge + PPC - We will own eventually :-)
