A HUGE sigh of relief over here (and I'm sure from all other sports betting affiliates) as the NFL lockout is resolved.

The summer months have been slow as shit with MLB being the main sport for bettors. I couldn't imagine there not being an NFL season. Even with college football there would be a lot less betting going on. I read somewhere this morning that NFL accounts for 25% of the annual handle from sportsbooks.

For those just getting into sports betting, you will notice that sign ups and RMPs pick up a lot during the fall months, as bettors open accounts specifically for football betting.

I think this year I may choose CPA over Rev Share, as I just can't trust betting sites that are allowing US bettors any more. I'm all for rev share with casino/sports betting, but for companies that may be leaving the market I am a little sketchy going for the "lifetime revenue". For other sports betting affiliates, what route are you going as far as CPA or Rev Share?

Besides the affiliate stuff, I am also pretty excited to bet on the NFL myself this season. My favorite three professional sports are NHL, MLB and of course NFL, but this will be my first year getting serious about NFL betting. I did really well with NHL, am doing great with my MLB picks, and hope to have similar numbers in one of the toughest sports to handicap. I have a new NFL domain that I can do my blogging on throughout the season... I will release that once I get a site up on it. [EDIT - My NFL blog is now up. I will be posting my NFL picks here. I am going to be selling my top plays and will have an affiliate program that I will announce later via my personal blog most likely]

Anyway, exciting news for sports betting affiliates with the NFL season being official. Now time to prepare my sites for the upcoming season!
