One of the problems with working on your computer and at home all day is that you are basically getting no exercise. The most exercise I get while working is going upstairs to grab some food or a drink. I am really big into working out; in the past it was mostly because I was playing competitive sports, but now that I am done with sports at a competitive level I will be working out basically for looks, to relieve stress, and stay healthy.

Right now I am currently weighing in at around 205 pounds and I am looking to drop that to about 198ish (yes I am precise) while keeping muscle.

For those who are interested this is what my workouts will be like for the next little while:

Day 1 - Chest, Biceps, Triceps + Cardio
Day 2 - Back, Shoulders + Abs
Day 3 - Lower Body
Day 4 - Rest
Day 5 - Start back at day 1

*Each day I will be mixing up the exercises I am doing to make sure I hit every muscle possible

Are there any other PAL members that are big into exercise or working out? What are your workouts like? What kind of goals do you have? Are you big on nutrition? What supplements do you take?

I love talking about working out and am interested if anyone else on PAL is as well...

I'm not as gung-ho or precise as you are. But I am 194 lbs and that's not good for my height. Granted, I have a decent amount of muscle mass on my frame, but I still need to trim down and get more cut.

I've kept relatively healthy because I mostly drink water or fruit juices. But recently I've been having a can of soda per day, and I really need to cut back and get back on track.

I picked up a gym membership, but messed up my back a little a few weeks ago when I was going at it too gung-ho.

So I need to ease my way back into it. In the interim, I've started buying more fruits & vegetables.

Now when I want a snack, instead of reaching for the Fritos I'll have some carrots or celery, with a miniscule amount of dip to add flavor.

Hopefully the better diet will help energize me and get me into the gym more often. My focus will mostly be on cardio, with light dumbell work thrown in to maintain muscle mass and enhance the overall workout.

Awesome man, looks like your getting into the right mindset. It's hard to get started but once you get going things get easier

I have never liked working out. But have always been very active in sports. Here are a few of my secret tips.
    1. choose a gym with nice equiptment or you will not enjoy yourself
    2. Choose a gym that has beutiful women to give you modivation to go and work out
    3. if you dont like working out like me try joining a mens basketball league or some team

I enjoy working out too. Go 3x a week and usually just do weights. Plan on cutting down a bit before the summer, but just going for size at the moment.

I'm very careful about what I eat now as my metabolism isn't quite as good as it used to be. Eating as healthy as I can 90% of the time and taking protein shakes along with creatine. Although to be honest, I don't really rate creatine that highly.

I don't know if you get this in Canada, but this brand is amazing. I've tried a number of supplements and this is by the far the best tasting with good results. Their chocolate cookie one tastes like McDonalds milkshake.

My workout is very similar to yours. The only difference is I switch the Biceps for the Shoulders on those first two workout days and minus the cardio.

Enjoy the benefits of running every other day - increasing the distance each week but usually between 4 to 6 miles, actually get grumpy if I miss one.

Would recommend cardio fitness to anyone - I was a late to discover that it makes you more productive as well as healthy - and of course feels good too!

    Cheers, Mark

I am definitely into working out. Right now I am currently building muscle and might start trimming the fat this summer.

    My current routine:

    Monday (Chest/Triceps)
    Bench Press
    Incline Press
    Dips
    DB Flys
    Skullcrushers
    Tricep Pulldowns

    Wednesday (Legs/Shoulders)
    Squats
    Stiff Legged Deadlift
    Calf Raises
    Leg Extensions
    Standing Barbell Press
    DB Lateral Raises

    Friday (Back/Biceps)

    Deadlift
    Barbell Rows
    Pullups
    Seated Rows
    Standing Barbell Curls
    Seated DB Curls
    Hyperextensions

If any on needs any advice on strength training or building muscle let me know.

PokerBank - I haven't heard of that brand but it might be around. I was also using creatine when I was trying to gain weight and found it helped a little bit. I also take lean gainer shakes when trying to gain weight.

Tom - Workout looks good...I do a bunch of those exercises in my workouts. Do you take any supplements at all?
  8. Tom's Avatar
Kevin - I take chocolate whey protein for post workout and sometimes in the morning to get me going. I mix it with milk and some oats.

I also take multi-vitamins which I do not consider supplements.

Occasional I will use a preworkout supplement for energy, something like NO Explode, NO Shotgun.

I have realized that your diet is the most important aspect though. 6 Meals a day composed of 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fat. All the work in the gym will get you nowhere without proper nutrition and rest.

Look at me Gentlemen, of course I work out. I didn't get this buff sitting on my ass in a leather chair all day. LOL

Actually I tried weights, but I suck. I am runner though and have done 2 marathons.

So true. I laugh at my friends who buy like $300 worth of supplements each month and then eat like shit and wonder why they don't see any gains.

Oh and I can't workout without a pre-workout NO shake anymore. I use Shock Therapy these days, but I also really liked NO Explode.

i used to work out religiously lol!! everyday, 6pac etc lol

then due to personal issues i had to commit time elsewhere so really out of shape at the min (lost muscle and size) and at 6ft4 its not good lol.

i plan on getting back into training in the next few weeks though

Yeah, like many others, I USED to work out regularly. I am at 197 right now at 6'0", which isn't horrible, but isn't great. I blame my laziness on my gf who had our little girl a year ago. Watching her sit and eat made me want to eat more, and then you wake up one day with a "daddy belly"

Anyway, I have been easing back into a routine. I did the chest/tri, back/bi, abs/legs workouts with great results before, so I'll probably stick with that. I used to play basketball regularly, and need to devote more time to my health/fitness. Thanks for the reminder!

work out is important i think, not only for your body but for the health itself! You feel so much better and can work so much harder when your body feels good

I do thaiboxing 4 times a week (since the last 7 years) and run like 10km 3 times a week! No gym or so, dont think that something for me

I have been lazy for too long now with no exercise except walking the dog, but I'm getting back on track and started gym again, 3 times a week + joined a foot ball team.

Not sure how that will work out since I haven't really played before but any activity will make a difference

Any of you guys have any exercise or workout sites? I imagine if you are really into working out, building a site around it would be fun and probably even profitable. I think it's great if you can build sites around things your passionate for.

I'm actually working on a sports related site with two buddies and we are writing a bit about sport specific workouts. I already have a little bit of traffic for some terms and I'm thinking of signing up for an online supplement store affiliate program.

I have a pretty decent fitness site geared towards building muscle. I get decent traffic but I am just starting to look into ways to monetize it.

I think working out is a key ingredient in online marketing success. I find that after a good solid workout my mind seems to work much more efficiently and I tend to get less scattered.

Right now I'm in a mass building phase and am following this split:

    Monday - Chest / Triceps
    Tuesday - Legs
    Wednesday - 30-40 minutes Cardio
    Thursday - Shoulders / Traps / Abs
    Friday - Back / Biceps

Sat and Sunday usually do some form of cardio.

What are you taking for a post workout shake? Right now I'm taking whey protein, creatine monohydrate and glutamine.

Also, don't under estimate the power of a multi vitamin first thing in the morning.

    Kevin,

Have you ever tried Animal Pump? It's basically Shock Therapy and Storm combined, but in a pill form. I've done a few cycles of it over the past two years and love it.

I definitely agree that working out helps you focus better on your work. Whenever I'm in a rut I get out for a run and can come home and get back at it.
