If you have read Creating a Poker Site Part 1 and Creating a Poker Site Part 2 I am going to make a quick update.

It looks like the domain BestPokerSite.org had been banned in Google from the previous owner... it was a real bummer to find that out after all the time (and money) I put into the site

I submitted a Google Reconsideration Request a couple of days ago, and I am interested to see how that goes. I wasn't really sure what to say except for the fact that I was a new owner of the domain and put a great resourceful site up for poker players.

Does anybody have any tips or ideas for getting back into google?

Ugh, that is a huge bummer and I'm pissed for you. I know Randy R has dealt with issues like this, PM him and get some advice.

It's amazingly annoying when that happens. I submitted a reinclusion request when it happened to me but there were no quick results. You have two main options really:

    1) Put the site on a new domain.
    2) Sit and wait and continue to build it every now and then.

Seeing as the domain is the main reason why you are building the site, you're not really going to want to go for option 1 (unless you can find a very similar domain and work with that).

So you're left with waiting it out and being annoyed at Google in the meantime. I'd chalk it up as a learning experience and move on to your next project. Work on a few other sites (and maybe get a link or two to this one every now and then) and you might find that bestpokersite.org pops back in to the search results and you can carry on as normal.

I guess there is also a 3rd option of continuing to work hard and building really great links to the site, but that's personally something that I wouldn't have the motivation to do.

I'd just move on and see if the domain revives itself later on down the line. It's really unfortunate and frustrating I know.

You could also take the site down, put the content up on an existing site of yours (maybe as a sub section) and redirect the old pages to the new ones on the existing site.

However, I'm not sure if there would be any negative repercussions to redirecting a banned domain and its pages to a "healthy" one. So you might want to research that idea before going ahead with it.

Thanks for the ideas PokerBank... I think I am leaning towards just letting it sit for a while. Hopefully its back in Google before too long. Does anyone know if it helps to re-submit a reconsideration request every so often?

Kevin let it sit and work on it. Don't ignore it and hope that google eventually picks it back up. Our slots site had nothing for traffic for almost 7 mths. Like maybe 10 - 15 hits a day even though there was well over 200 pages and yeah its incredibly frustrating to see but it can pay off in the long run if you treat the site as if there was nothing wrong with it.

Something to think of. I dont know what your putting under the Best Gambling Sites (coming soon) area but I would either place some links to pages on YOUR site or remove that all together. To me it looks like an area that you would sell links in.

Just work on building the site and finding some great links and hopefully it turns around for you

That's crap - sorry to hear that Kevin.

Just out of interest, how did you find out that it had been banned?

Ah just when it hadn't been indexed after a couple of weeks, and looking at the old site that was up it was obvious it was spammy
