As a person who's poker affiliating activities are more of a hobby then a career, I find that the business is a lot of work. Especially since I have a full time job that is demanding in terms of time and brain power. Perhaps that is why I tend to post a lot of light humor posts in the PAL forums, because that's all I have left in me.

In terms of succeeding in the affiliate business, I need to stay focused and keep the prize in mind, but that's where I struggle most. First, I have an addiction to the PAL forum where I must read every thread that was updated, put in my two cents or my lame joke, and move on to the next. My forum OCD behavior became much more apparent when I one day realized I was so engulfed in a thread that I was literally hitting F5 repeatedly to refresh my browser, hoping someone added something new. That was the day I became aware of my own lameness!

The PAL forum is a wealth of information and a huge help to my success, but it is also an anchor that slows me down, and sometimes keeps me still. Of course, that is my own fault. I do have 8 years of forum addiction prior to becoming an affiliate. Damn you intraweb! When you prefer to talk to strangers online vs talking to real people, well you need to get out more. Today, I came to the realization that I need to spend less time here at PAL and focus that time on specific tasks on my sites. Does anybody feel like I do?

Same here. PAL is really an addiction but it hasn't affected my business. Yes, I read posts/reply but do my work side by side. It takes only a few minutes to read a few posts and reply...I don't check each and every post

An online forum that belongs to your industry is an addiction- no doubt about that. You feel like your home atmosphere and that's why spend your time. Only thing to be taken care of is the time management.

And we love your crooked posts MPC!

I came to the same realization about a month ago, and now try to stick with forums & threads that only pertain to me. For example, I never promoted Cardspike, so I barely know what all went on there. Like you, I used to read every thread - it made me feel like I was 'in the loop'. Now, I just don't care if I'm in the loop about subjects that don't pertain to me.

Also, I'm on a mission this year, with huge goals for myself. This means that I have to be efficient with my time, and cut corners when it doesn't affect the bottom line.

If you outline your daily tasks, every single day, it becomes easier to stay focused on them and getting things accomplished. When things aren't written down, staring you in the face, it's easy to forget about them.
