The printed logo require a much higher resolution and needs to be saved in a certain standard printed formats. Some of the most universal printed formats for print job are TIFF.EPS and AL{illustrator}.
By creating a logo in these file formats, the logo can be opened up and printed even without having the original software application that the logo was created in.
Web logos require a much smaller resolution (since they only need to be displayed on screen).and its quality will appear very blurred or jagged on paper. That is why they are not a good choice for printing.
