Is Your Content *Really* Unique...

Browsing through some business / SEO blogs today and came across 'Sugarrae' via an SEObook interview. This blog is a real gem - I personally rate anyone who 'challenges you to think' very highly indeed.

Anyway, the reason for this short post is to give some props for this article on unique content: http://www.sugarrae.com/when-unique-...is-not-unique/

The central thesis is that many webmasters think of unique in terms of the words used and google - while genuinely unique content is conceptually unique, you know... actually different!

We are all guilty to some extent of regurgitating the same reviews and strategy articles with new words. Yet to really differentiate sites and get some of those elusive natural links truly unique content is the only way forward IMO.

    Yeah, a lot of people are really confused about what the word "unique" means. Here's a quick definition: "one of a kind".

    I will agree that probably 90% of the sites within the poker niche are no where near being unique...however here is a question for you Mark and I asked this to someone recently.

    Everyone talks about the "create unique content get one way links for it"

    Do you think that's even possible in our niche?

    Sure maybe the odd article may grab someone's attention, but rarely do you ever find something that's mind blowing enough to say "hey check this out".

    I think very few topics are link worthy and have that "unique" feel to it even the news on PokerListings. Only so much you can write about on the Durr Challenge before it becomes meh.

    I just don't think this industry has the ability to do that, unless it's an event that shapes it or leaves a significant impact.
