Just read this on Yahoo:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090221/ts_nm/us_obama

Here are some hilarious excerpts:

The tax cuts are part of a $787 billion economic recovery plan passed by the Democratic-controlled Congress over Republican opposition. The aim is to put more money in the pockets of Americans and stimulate the economy by increasing consumer spending.

"I'm pleased to announce that this morning the Treasury Department began directing employers to reduce the amount of taxes withheld from paychecks, meaning that by April 1st, a typical family will begin taking home at least $65 more every month," Obama said in his weekly radio address.

Yeah, a whole $65 is really going to "increase consumer spending"

I'm so happy to see our government really making CHANGE! happen (and what's funny is I was an Obama supporter, oy vey)

In all honesty I find stuff like that insulting. A few years ago hubby got a raise..a whole $0.25 more an hour. At the end of the week his pay ended up less because that $0.25 put him in the next tax bracket..he told them to take back their raise.

Our government set up a Universal Child Care Benefit a couple years ago as a way to help the huge costs of daycare. Right now I pay $25 / day per child. So I average $50 a day. This doesnt include after school programs, which with three kids is about $10/ hr

The government gives us $100 per month for each child under the age of 7..and here's the catch its taxable income. So while my child care expenses are a deductable on a portion, I than have to claim the $100/pr child per month given to me which was meant to help offset the costs of child care. If I claim child care expenses though I am dinged from the Child Tax Benefit for using that as an expense. Its a circle.

    Nice eh

Even the word "tax cut" is ridiculous. This is like putting a band-aid on Niagara Falls and expecting it to stop flowing.

The United States was founded on Capitalism and Entrepreneurship. With the current spending, and the proposed Nationalization of the U.S. banks, we have gone into an all out sprint to see how fast we can truly define the USA as a socialist country.

Is this what the great "Change" is that was preached about for months on end leading up to the election was? What a glorious thought; The government will control all the money, and caps will be placed on how much money a U.S. citizen should be able to make so that everything in the country is "fair".

    Fun times ahead.

Makes me sick, along with these so called stimulus packages. Like $600 or whatever it was is really going to stimulate the economy.

It's unfortunate today, people just seem to have entitlement issues. Everyone feels they "deserve" to be successful, but most of them don't want to actually have to work for it.

And you've got all the masses thinking "oh, this stimulus is great!" when they aren't considering what will likely happen:

    * We'll continue printing more money, further devaluing the dollar
    * We're going to have to pay this money back later, it isn't a freebie

It's so typical of politicians to just continue borrowing against our future, and get us further and deeper into the hole. By the time they're out of office, it's someone elses problem.

I should have listened to my buddy Spry back in 06,07, and 08 when he was telling me to invest in gold. In all seriousness we are entering scary times in the U.S.

I'm glad I'm an affiliate and operate on an International scale. Being a regular employee depending on a 2 week check from an employer would make me quite uneasy right now.

Jesus don't get me started on this - Our country is being fucking robbed by these politicians! ROBBED! these bastards should be out in jail.

they are increasing spending like there is not tomorrow and it is not their money! Did anyone ask you if we should bail out these sorry ass banks? Or pay for people who make 25k a year and bought a 200k house? What about those of us who have been responsible and lived within our means? WTF do we get?

I don't want my payroll taxes cut, I want people to take some responsibility with their lives and do the right thing. More government welfare will not fix this mess, the economy needs to reset and they are trying to prevent that which will only prolong this recession/depression.

If they would allow these bad business to fail, this would be over in 12 months, now we will be luck to ever get over it. Their goal is to enslave the American people and grow government to never before seen heights.

This is a power grab people, unless people stand up and shout they will never be heard.

Meanwhile Citi who received $45 billion in bailout funds is trying to spend $50 million on a 12-seat private jet:

I love the masses who are so easily misled, it's no wonder why government and big business pull this crap. They all think this stimulus package is the answer, but it's just another fluff job to make everyone think "something" is being done.

A lot of people think the government is just throwing money back at us with no strings attached. They don't realize that this is going to cost us down the road.

There's a bunch of failing companies that no investor in their right mind would touch, so our government thinks it makes sense for We The People to buy up a bunch of bad debts and help prop up poorly managed companies.

    Oy what a disaster!

It's funny how they state it - "a typical family will begin taking home at least $65 more every month

This is of course a 2+ income family. The typical American will see $8-10 more per paycheck.

Thank God for this help! We get to bankrupt our country so that the average full time worker can make a whole $0.20 extra per hour.

    Yes we can!

Praise sweet Jesus, we are all saved.

The masses have this illusion that the government has some surpluss of money that they're "giving" back to us.

They don't understand the government is just going to print a bunch of money, further devalueing the dollar and weakening our strength in the global economic landscape.

It doesn't matter if the government ships us all a cool million, if that million is only worth ten bucks on the world market.

The government is essentially going into everyones home, taking 2 grand out of your pocket and then saying "here's 20 bucks back, now we're going to ship the rest of your money to a bunch of companies that are bleeding cash like a stuck pig....CHANGE!"

I'm sick of big business getting all the bail outs as well. Let them fall on their ass ...someone else will replace them sooner or later. Why are we loaning money to GM and Chrysler ? I say let them fail if they don't know how to run their company like they did with Packard and Studebaker back in the day.
