We worked all weekend to transition PokerNations over to an upgraded platform. You'll find a cleaner, more user-friendly and familiar interface in place.

One of the biggest new features is facebook integration. Members can now login with their facebook accounts and share activity on our site direct to their facebook wall!

We're very excited about the relaunch and would love to have our fellow industry members stop by and check out the new interface.

Hope you all had a great Easter weekend! :D

How Sustainable Is Rush Poker?

Copied from my Rush Poker blog

Full Tilt has been promoting their Rush Poker creation and working towards patenting it while they pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, here's why I believe Rush Poker doesn't have the longevity of "normal" poker.

While I agree this game is great for those who want to dive right in and enjoy action without any wait time, it has some inherent faults that I feel will cause it to fail in the near future.

Poker is a game about volume. In the short term, anyone can be a big winner. They may mistakenly attribute their short term success to their level of skill, when actually variance/luck was on their side and they ran well.

It's the long term that determines who wins and who loses in the end. And it used to be that getting to the long-term could take awhile, it's a lot of volume playing live or even online.

But with the Rush Poker concept, the long term is going to come significantly sooner. And while that's great for the winning players, at least at first, it also means the losing players will reach their long-term sooner as well, and thus be fleeced of their cash by the better players all the more quickly.

When this happens, those losing players may redeposit, or they may disappear altogether. If you fleece the losing players over an extended period of time they're less likely to take notice of their overall losses, making it easier for them to remain in action. But if they lose and lose and lose all the more quickly, it's significantly more likely they will notice this and be less likely to redeposit and keep playing.

Regardless, I think with the long-term being reached sooner, the games profitability will also drop sooner, resulting in tighter games and less fish.

How that can remain sustainable as a popular format will be the challenge that Full Tilt faces. It was certainly innovative, but how can they combat the quicker reduction of the fish pool in these games?

A little while ago my wife and I were looking for new computer/office furniture. A local furniture outlet was going out of business, so we hit the place to see if we could find any deals.

Immediately upon entry an old guy (looked like a nice grandpa type fellow) approached us and asked if we had received their flyer in the mail. We replied we hadn't, so he goes:

ok folks, this is how it's going to work. No reasonable offer will be refused, so you can just ignore all the price tags on items

He then proceeded to follow us around while we shopped, making sure to comment on EVERY single piece of furniture we looked at:

isn't that a nice piece folks?

I have that one at my home?

That piece is a real bargain!

He was even finding something positive to say about a piece that had paint flaking off it!

Really reminded me of those old-timey snake oil salesmen. The ones who were like:

Folks, gather round, I have the most wonderful concoction for you. It cures headaches, measles, the mumps, the common cold, fever, shivers, club foot, poor eyesight, water retention and is an aphrodesiac sure to lure supple young women into your bed!

Anyway, surefire way to turn us off from a purchase, and we went with another store instead.

This is great news because we also have a new desk setup coming in the near future. And the furniture company we purchased from told us to remove old items would be $90 per piece!
So hopefully offloading the old desks will be just as easy as dumping the chairs. Plus this way our reusable stuff doesn't tie up a landfill.

Michael Corfman, President & CEO of CasinoCity, and Executive Director of the GPWA, was recently "embroiled" in additional controversy in connection with CAP.

Having been unbanned and "welcomed" back to the CAP community, Michael was recently seen with the following post:

WOW! Does that mean I win a CAP Money Bonus! I was trying to make what I thought was a good suggestion, but I never expected that if it was adopted I'd get some sort of prize.

In response, Lou "my house" Fabiano, aka "The Professor" had this to say:

The Avatar suggestion does qualify since we enacted it. Please PM me with your Paypal details and I will request accounting to action it tomorrow and forward you $125 in CAP money. Enjoy it in good health. Congratulations

Whether Michael sent a PM response with Paypal details and received the "friendly gesture" from CAP remains to be seen. What is in question now is the viability of GPWA serving as an ethical resource in the industry.

Will CAP continue to discuss how they won't change members avatars anymore, to divert us away from the real issues?

Can Michael and the GPWA really be bought off for a measly $125? What will it take to turn JTodd into a friend of CAP?

Will Cardspike ever pay up? Will CAP continue to operate "business as usual?" Will The Professor experience another blowup and attempt to silence anyone that so much as breathes wrong?

Hopefuly JTodd and the APCW will cover this exciting development in their next video!
