PokerStars Tournament #280000003,
No Limit Hold'em
Freeroll
1843 players
$5096.50 USD added to the prize pool by PokerStars
Total Prize Pool: $5096.50 USD
Tournament started 2010/01/27 23:00:00 WET [2010/01/27 18:00:00 ET - 2010/01/27 23:00 GMT]

Dear pomppoker,

You finished the tournament in 7th place.
You have won an admission ticket to 'SCOOP - $215 Entry'.
This ticket allows you to participate only in a tournament of this type.
Tickets are not redeemable for cash or Tournament US Dollars; if you register and then
unregister from the tournament, your ticket will be returned.

To view your available tournament tickets, go to Requests; Tournament Tickets in the
main lobby.
You earned 64.57 tournament leader points in this tournament.

I sat down to this game at 2300 GMT feeling very confident for a change as all the kids were in bed and mrspomp was unwell she was also in the land of nod. This gave me the perfect surroundings for a long slog which I knew this was going to be if I was to get in the prizes.

Sadly, and this is something that needs addressing,I have never been one for recording hands, bad beats etc so to cut a long story short I rode my luck a little almost going out 1st hand after the 1st break when my Qh Jd cracked pocket Aces.

Along the way I had more luck but also played some WSOP class poker. At times I was called all sorts of unearthly and obscene names as well as hearing "Good Call" and "Well Played" aimed at me along with some fun table banter.

However 1st place was not to be and just before 4am I went out in 7th place from 1843 runners and I had won myself an admission ticket to 'SCOOP - $215 Entry'

We have launched - now we need your help !!

Ok so this has been on my mind for some time, to actually do something about making Low Stakes Poker Legal so thank you for joining the group.

I realy do need your support and help to make this more than a mickey mouse facebook group and would ask you to invite every poker player that you know to join - no matter at what level they play or how often.

The freedom to play must be granted universally whether this is in a pub/bar cafe or small poker club - market forces would eliminate the shoddy run games and players are educated enough to decide when and where they play and for what stakes.

Casino's just cannot offer decent stacked structures as they do not make much money from tournaments but small operators, clubs and individuals can - so let us campaign to be able to play our game where we like.

Please help me with stage 1 by INVITING EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO THIS GROUP

Then for stage 2 the fun part - the poker game outside a well known London Landmark Smile We can do this as soon as we can demonstrate to the poker press that we have more than 1000 members and they have agreed to cover it (thanks Bluff Europe)

Together we can change the laws - individually we will just be voices that are never heard.

The time for action is now !!!!

Was at a bit of a loss last night so decided to have a go in the 50 runner $600 Guaranteed Freezeout at PCR.

After a shaky start I found myself hitting the 1st break in 34th/43 and just over the 3000 starting chips. Not to clever.

A quick coffee saw me settle down and get into the game slowly I started to build my stack and move up the placings.By the 2nd break I was in 14th/22 and enjoying the game.

The third break and another coffee saw me take out two players in two hands and sit at the final table.

15 minutes in I hit this little gem of a hand and give myself a major ego boost as you can imagine.

From there I went on to play a great heads up which I ended up coming worse of in and taking $144 for 2nd place.

Decided that it was about time I put my creative writing to the test but soon realized I am a novice poker player so couldn't pen a piece about the game that is a big part of most of our lives. Also realized that I am a complete newbie when it comes to being an affiliate so that was out too.

Got on skype and had a natter to a few people and then checked my facebook account and realized how many of my contacts were connected to poker. Then it hit me and I penned this.

Hope its ok for my first attempt at what comes naturally to alot of you.

Poker as a friend

If you are reading this then you either already play poker, have an interest in playing poker or you have stumbled across this site and something caught your eye.

Across the Internet there are thousands, possibly millions of articles based around poker and its rules, strategies and celebrities. Many are unique and many you will have seen over and over again. Just the same as your Pocket Rockets being cruelly beaten on the river by pocket 4's.

I would like you to take a different look at the game of poker. View it as I do. View it as a friend.

I have been playing poker on line since mid May 2006. Just under two years.
In that time I have been called a FISH or DONKEY many a time. I have also been called much worse on the odd occasion. All is not bad though as many a time my play has warranted and received shouts of 'Well Played', 'Good Call' or 'Good Hand'

Just like a true friend, poker scolds you when you are bad and praises you when good.

Poker ,just like my second love football (soccer to my American friends), takes you on a joy ride through life. All the time treating you like a best friend should. Poker will drag you down till you feel that you are the lowest of the lows. When you have spent the last dollar of your bankroll however poker is still with you.

Poker will also take to the summit of your card playing life. Winning that WSOP Main Event seat or becoming forum champion poker will shout, scream and celebrate with you. Poker will still be there.

Day in Day out you meet some great characters and some not so great. Friendships will be created and enemies will be met. Fondness and rivalry will both be encountered on the same day and highly likely on the same table in the same game.

And why we ask ourselves?

The answer is plain and simple. Poker is a game enjoyed and loved but also despised by millions throughout the world. It can become our worst enemy or our best friend.

I consider poker as a friend and can honestly say that because of poker I have made some great friends worldwide. All of which I would almost certainly never have met if it wasn't for my friend known only as poker.

So ask yourself this. Is poker your friend or is it your enemy?
I am sure that most of you, like me, will only be able to reply 'Poker is my friend'
And what a friend it has turned out to be.
