[Please don't remove this - I know I am revealing too much for some ]

Hey Folks,

I must be crazy but I am going to reveal an uncommon and yet extremely powerful SEO strategy today. Firstly, let me define some terms here:

1/ Vertical SEO : Vertical SEO is what 99% of affiliates do. They have a single site that they are trying to rank number 1 for.
2/ Horyzontal SEO: This is when you interlink multiple web 2.0 sites together, the rankings of which vary dynamically on page 1.

Let me explain the benefits of 2) here.
Let's say you are trying to rank for longtail1. Your site is number 5 for that term. You can use two approaches to improve your results:

1/ Vertical SEO: find / buy more backlinks to increase to position 4
2/ Horyzontal SEO: Piggyback on web2.0 sites that have Page One potential such as Squidoo, Wetpaint and many others.

Here is what happens when you use both strategies from a traffic perspective :

1/ The person using vertical SEO buys links and makes number 4. Yay ! He sees very little traffic increase however. In fact, the Google traffic profile is almost flat outside of the top 3 spots (4 to 7 is quite similar)
2/ The person using horizontal SEO pushes a web 2.0 site on page 1 and effectively doubles his traffic numbers.

By further interlinking social media sites such as digg, propeller, mixx to these web 2.0 sites, you can achieve multiple page one listings concurrently. The reason is that you are using authority sites that receive backlinks from other authority sites.

Now this takes some work/preparation and you need to map out your network before you start. You also need to ensure that you aren't repeating patterns. Some of your web2.0 sites should link to other sites in your network, not just the final destination.

In fact you should also modulate link depth, here is a great example:

digg --- > squidoo ---> wetpaint ---> main site

mixx ---> main site

Every node should be linked to with more bookmarks. What the hell is going to happen if you do this ???

The result is that some days the digg page will be on page 1, others days squidoo will be on page 1, others wetpaint etc...
I am making the assertion that you can have 4 or more web 2.0 sites ranking on page 1 at the same time.

Note that the network presented above is very basic. A solid network would consist of 20 + different web2.0 sites.

So what is the SEO benefit then ? If you only use dofollow web2.0 sites you are funneling an extreme amount of page rank. You are also receiving one way back links form authority sites on contextual pages that you will have written yourself. Powerful technique indeed. The advantage compared to a network of mini-sites is that all the web2.0 sites have different class A and B IPs.

NOTE: I've had many people PM me for the full list of web 2.0 sites that I use. These are all do-follow and allow gambling content. Again, there is no way I am making this public.

However, if you really need this, PM me. I may accept a good backlink for the full list. I can also provide an example of a sample network that you can use as a base.If you provide a really good link, I will also reveal a site that ranks almost as well as Wikipedia and accepts gambling content + affiliate links.

By using this site I ranked 3rd for Carbon Poker overnight and the effect lasted for a long time. I'm not lying. MJ knows the site I am referring to but he won't tell you

I enjoyed sharing this, I hope it helps. PM me if you have any questions.

If you like this kind of content, you will find more in my new blog poker affiliate marketing. Comments are do follow- come and say hi.

I am anticipating a remark that this more suited for a short term strategy. It's true that you've seen digg bookmarks go up and then down right ? But have you ever tried adding links to that digg page ? This prevents the listing from being ephemeral

Great post and you can let all the stuff you want loose and the funny thing I've found about good SEO advice is this:

People will read it, and still NOT LISTEN!

    Funny but true..

OK guys, based on the feedback I received I'm not giving out the list to the super affiliates or good affiliates. It's true that these guys could just dominate the top 10 spots and destroy everyone else. So only beginners apply please. Sorry about this Randy.

    No worries, good luck

I guess I should feel good that people are telling you not to share with me

Yea, you can't have the whole first page lol!

    Kidding obviously, nice post Seb.

Unfortunately Randy is right, I'm one of the affiliates that rarely implements strategies like this as I'm just too damn busy and spread to thin, so no time.

I don't quite understand what you mean by linking network. Are you supposed to link all pages that might appear on page 1 in google directly to your main site?

Do you link the sites like digg and squidoo together?

Great post. What Randy said is so on the spot though - I've read so many good advices over the past months, but too many of them are still on my "to do" list.

Sebastian, j'ai bookmark ton blogue, mais ça serait super si tu changeais pour noir sur blanc - c'est dur pour les yeux! En passant, je crois qu'il y a une erreur dans ton blogroll, 3e lien

Good question. The sites all link to each other and the links are all mono directional.

The final destination is always the main site.

Do yes, Digg could link to Squidoo which would link to your main site

    First of all thanks Sebastian.
I just gave it a try with a pretty decent site and I tried your recommended sites from the example.
    Wetpaint works pretty well.
But: Squidoo doesn't allow any gambling related sites, wetpaint obviously does.
Next problem: if you want to digg a wetpaint page you'll get the message that this kind of URL is disabled due to spam usage and so on.

So at least your example doesn't work. But you can shoot me a PM with the right list
    I'd apprechiate that

    Hey man,

Sorry I was at work all day. Use Propeller instead of Digg, this example was off the top of my head. Digg has weird rules were you can't submit Squidoo because of abuse.

Concerning Squidoo, you can use gambling content, but to some extent of course. If you want to write stuff about Brian townsend with a link to your site, no problem. Same for poker strategy. Most poker bonus code stuff is tolerated if it's discreet.

    I'll PM you buddy

Nice article Sebastian - I agree with whoever mentioned it above, there is just a whole load of stuff to learn about SEO that I'm still trying to keep up with it all.

The idea of interlinking community sites is pretty cool - will definitely try that and see how it works.

Any other advice you may be able to offer via PM or otherwise would be hugely appreciated
