Enough with the hype and the hoopla and the alround wall-to-wall media coverage .... E-N-O-U-G-H !!!

I blame ESPN - they started the process of covering sports that they patently know little about - and now it's grown to epidemic proportions with every media troll and his/her dog wanting to get in on the act.

The trouble is that within 3-seconds it's blatantly obvious that these groups know very little about the event that they are covering or promoting.

From Poker Rooms and Casinos offering promotions very loosely based on World cup prizes and themes to "content writers" struggling to come to terms with the basic concepts of the game we are bombarded with mis-targeted promotions and concepts that have far too many exclamation points !!!!!!!

Enough is enough ...

Can we just get back to playing the games please?

The excitement of the World Cup is amazing.

In many countries people stop what they are doing to watch the games and root for their favorite teams.

I don't see that on the Olympics, even on sports in which my country kick ass, like volleyball for example.

Soccer is a global sport, it is even popular in the USA.

    From Wikipedia:
"Soccer", known in most of the rest of the world as football, is another popular team sport played in the United States. It is the number one youth participation sport in the U.S. today, more popular even than (American) football, baseball, basketball, or hockey, up to about the age of 13. Dramatic growth in youth participation has fueled the men's national team's steady rise in caliber of play since 1990, with the US participating in every World Cup since that time. Almost as many girls as boys play youth soccer in the U.S., contributing to the women's national team becoming one of the world's premier women's sides.
You have the right to think that any game is boring.

But fighting against statistical data you must mean that there is a larger scheme going on here to favor soccer somehow, the most boring sport ever, or maybe every fan is plain stupid.

Brazil has been kicking ass in volley in the last decade, for example, and for every young volley player there are maybe 99 soccer players. But every youngster here plays volley on school, as well as soccer, basketball.
