The US I think undoubtedly has the best draw of the 4 mini sections.

    This section is just brutal...
    Sunday 27th June :
    - 4:00pm Germany v England
    - 8:30pm Argentina v Mexico

Agreed - I think that Sunday is my "must watch" day too.

Also interested to see how Spain v Portugal goes - as Spain are still perceived as strong contenders and yet I was less than convinced today against a 10-man Chile team.

Plenty to look forward to over the next four days.

Yeah I am looking forward to the Spain/Portugal matchup as well. As if there wasn't enough at stake the geographic dimension should take it to even another level.

Am I the only person looking forward to England v Germany most?

Such history between the two countries as well as on the football pitch where the Germans have won all the penalty shootouts against England (afaik).

Going to be an awesome game with pubs packed all over England. I'm hoping England win only because I have a prop bet with a friend that Spain will go further

Also Spain v Portugal should be great - giving Spain the edge.

Got back from sa yesterday. Little bit upset we (england) didn't manage to top our group. Easy route to the semi-final with ghana and urugay. However I am not bitter - well done usa, it was nice to see so many of your fans there and see you doing well. The best team won.

Unfortunatey i don't see england winning the world cup anymore - we have to play argentina "if" we beat germany, then we will play spain and brazil most probably.

Very looking forward to sunday: few facts for the uneducated: england have lost 3/3 penalty shootouts. Germany have won 4/4 - they are the best. Hence we will be desperate not to draw.
Personally i do beleive england will beat germany, but in terms of betting i think it's 50/50. Germany good team, klose back, great record. England i think have a much better team, but the world cup is about the day.

#4 Michael Bradley has been killing the US all game. Continually out of position, turning it over, and losing almost every 50/50 ball. Just gave a super weak attempt on a good scoring chance as well. This guy is dead weight.

When your the son of the coach you are going to make the team no matter what

Nah, in all fairness I was impressed by him in a previous game (1st time seeing him play) but yeah he has been shocking tonight man - poor game too!

A good first day in the knockout phase for TV viewers with two good games and some well taken goals. A good mix between action and tension !

Commiserations to US fans - but well done to Ghana who will now face Uruguay in the quarter-finals

So far the second round is pretty much going to form - with 5 of the six group winners winning through to the quarter-finals.

Some good games, and plenty of goals too
