And so ... the Summer Football Break begins ... (yawn)

OK - techincally - it's actually winter for me down here in New Zealand - but as I spend most of my working day (and night) writing and thinking about European Football and US NFL and NCAA football ... it's still a summer break for me.

The Gooners Guide is a gambling portal - so we do cover Online Casino, Online Poker, and things like Bingo and Backgammon - but that is not my speciality or why I run the website.

For me the passion is about sports, and frankly when you are talking about sports then I mean FOOTBALL ... whether it's European Football ... or the North American variety. I've tried to get into Baseball, basketball, ice hockey ... but these sports just do not do it for me ... and I've found it best to source in writers who have the passion for sports.

So now that the European season is finished ... and there is no World Cup or European Championships I'm caught here twidling my thumbs a wee bit waiting for the start of the European pre-season in August and the NCAA College Football season in September.

Sure - there is the Copa America in July - but outside of Argentina and Brazil this tournament is actually a bit of a non-event ... so here I am sitting around wondering WTF to do with myself?

I've tried to get enthused in the WSOP in Vegas - but ... am left with meh! 50+ tournaments - usually won be someone you've never heard of ... and if you do follow the WSOP online then you render all the TV coverage of it on ESPN pointless - as you already know who has won ...

So - what do YOU do to pass the time in the off-season? How do you handle the break?
Suspended animation? Drinking Binges?

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Beyond that my advice is buy a boat, or since it's your winter - go ski on a mountain, or travel somewhere new.

Write a series of articles about futures betting for the upcoming seasons.

A nice idea. But we will need to get through the two-month lull and see what happens in the close season transfer market before really getting to grips with the lines on offer.

Money has been talking the last few seasons with quite a few moves to Spain - but Barcelona seem to have broken their piggy bank - so I expect to see Man United, Chelsea and Manchester City making most of the moves.

But it's all remour an innuendo at this stage ...

I saw Tiger Woods officially pull out of the US Open today ... I reckon that news just halved the potential for TV rating for the event.

Still it's something to consider - appreciated!

Outsourced the casino specs to someone who's into that (Elle the gambling gal) and we now have active online casino reviews , online poker rooms as well as smaller backgammon and bingo sections ... as discussed in the post.

Whales caught along with all sizes of players and continuing to catch - but casino play is not really my thing - nor does it need daily maintenance to update it.

Just sell some links to pay the bills (I understand you've been hit by the downturn)

    or

Give the site a face-lift (sacrilege perhaps)

    or

Look at localizing to get an international exposure.

    or

Order expensive wine from my country and drown your sorrows away.

Write a guest article for my newest betting site for a link in return?

While twidling your thumbs in what I assume is freezing cold NZ I suggest tuning into the State of Origin on Wednesday.

Find an out of work Premier League manager and hire him as a writer for your site. Must be tons.

Failing that, do some research on producing and uploading daily/weekly video podcasts for the site with tips and picks for football games.

Looks like you could do some work on your site layout. In Firefox 4 and ie8 this page is almost unreadable: A Guide to Advanced Football Betting | Betting for Value | Backing Form
I didn't really look around for more...

I suspect you caught us during our host move today - where all sorts of things were up/down and unavaiulable including style page ...

The page you mentioned looks readable to me now in IE, Firefox and Chrome - albeit very much out of date ;-)

Hey Gooner- The page looks like this to me: [REMOVED] (in FF4 with XP)
The headlines cover much of the text.

    EDIT: Looks Fixed.
