Default Will the economy impact our chances at regulation?

Whether you are pro or anti legislation, I think we can all agree that we face a unique situation in the world.

Especially in the US - state by state budgets are struggling and I think the next 4 years will see our best chance at online gaming regulation.

Do you think the current US administration combined with the state of the global economy will impact our chances at regulation?

I personally do - and blogged to the fact, but I'm interested in other peoples opinions.

Well common sense and politics do not always mix, would make sense from a revenue raising point of view to legalise gambling but i doubt that would persuade them.

What may persuade them is if the gambling mecca's in Las Vegas start to go under and a whole industry is then put at risk, a couple of high profile bankruptcies and things could change

When jobs are on the line then the politicians worldwide start to act faster imo.

Many states are already loosening their laws regarding gambling in desperate searches for additional streams of revenue to help plug up the leaks they're experiencing now and expect down the road.

So I agree with you here MJ, that suddenly the opponents of gambling will see it as a viable way to raise revenue..............until things get back to a more normalized economic state. Then they may go on their religious crusades to demonize the industry they turned to in a time of need.
