Joining new programs and drawbacks

I've notice more casinos outsource their marketing to various companies compared to poker rooms. The poker affiliate programs generally contact you directly whereas the emails from casinos are coming through places like Convertonet.com and whatnot.

Are there drawbacks to joining a program through these people? I know that sounds stupid but I am curious because even Europartners uses some other company and when I asked to deal with a manager directly through Euro I was told no. I am not really sure what that setup is over there but just using them as an example.

If I sign through these companies will it effect my comissions long term similar to signing as a sub for someone?

Any other drawbacks I should be aware of.
