    Default Correcting mistakes...

So I have built a bingo website with about 500 pages at the moment. I recently read a blog post on the Poker SEO blog written by Randy about poker keywords and ranking for secondary terms as well as a main term for any page.

Well its not something I have done

Before I do anything else should I devote a few days to going over every page and implementing this strategy?

That is excellent advice from Randy. And also generous for him to share.

This quote is very much on target:

the best keyword research tool for a poker webmaster to use is your brain.
The best thing to do is find your 'niche' and target that. You may not be ready to target 'online bingo'. Or 'online casinos'. Personally, I don't bother. It is not nessacary to be #1 or #10 in that particular area.

Simply go with what you know and are comfortable with. You are the authority! The rest will come naturally.

    Good stuff Randy!

I think you should certainly utilize this strategy on your pages. What I would do is on the pages that relate to phrases that aren't that competitive, try to rank for 3-5 terms minimum. On the really competitive phrases, pick 1 phrase per page and try to rank for it by itself.

I usually go after the long tail keywords, as I saw they are more profitable for me than the generic keywords.

And today I just read this lol:

I don't think you necessarily have to go back through all 500 pages and look for ways to target all kinds of different long tail terms. What I would suggest is doing some keyword research related to your main keywords and start creating new pages targeting those terms.

In addition, keep adding new content daily related to your main keywords and you will by default, start ranking for some long-tail terms.

If you really have 500 pages of content I would just wait and see what kind of search visitors come in the next few months, you may be optimized for something and not even know it.

I think with that volume of content (assuming it's all reasonably good content) you should have a clear map of some phrases you can rank better for in a few months, and really I think "trying to rank for xxx phrase" or whatever can damage more than it helps as sometimes it's too similiar to other peoples pages, whereas you might be truly unique right now.

I haven't seen your site or anything, just my .02 anyways assuming it's 500 indexed pages.

Cheers for the response MJ. Its not fully indexed yet but it must be getting close. I think the content is ok but my plan always was that at 500 pages I would go back over it and make it all a lot better. Having said that I'm really pleased with how well some of it has turned out.

The idea of a page ranking for 3 things as opposed to 1 is very appealing though. I guess re seoing all my pages would bring me more traffic in the long term.
