Default CPA Deals. AM's dont want this info out.

Some of the most successful poker rooms and casinos online are masters of creating the highest value per player. On the operations side you'll often hear marketing directors going back and forth with their affiliate managers discussing Player Value, expected traffic and play through requirements on CPA deals. This is because in order to a program to be truly successful they need to maximize the money earned (on average) per player who signs up and deposits. When you're going to be asking for a CPA keep this in mind and always try and sell your rate along with some Anayltics or previous earnings.

Inevitable they will ask you to go for a rev share deal, if you're not into that these facts to come back with will get you much closer to a deal.

Thats' great advice Greg, i just wrote a post on how affiliates should prepare their meetings with AMs. Indeed affiliates need to sell their stuff to get what they want, too many just keep asking for the "best deal" without any valuable information on how they're running their business.

    Great article there Geof.

I get many website owners aking for some very high deals, especially CPAs, and when I ask for some stats to back it up with they often go very quiet on me!

I always think that if someone is producing the results then they should be prepared to share some of that information. Otherwise I can't understand it when they flatly refuse what I'm offering, even though I tell them that I'm happy to review the figures as soon as we've been working together for a while, so I can review the figures they're bringing in.

I'm not going to post any information they give me on a forum, or tell other websites - at the end of the day they can only benefit by getting a better deal out of it.

Ok well lets twist this around. My biggest pet peeve with a program is when they ask the worst possible question.

"How many players will you be sending us?"

I think this question is trivial at best. Say for example you are casino.poker room xxxx and you want me to tell you how many players I will be sending your per month. Without working with the program before there is no way of knowing let alone whether my traffic will be a best fit for your casino.

So say I compare my stats at other properties and give you an estimate based on what I'm seeing already. How is that even remotely equal to what you would see.

I honestly think am's should toss that question out when deciding on agreements with affiliates. One room is totally different from another and although I may provide you with traffic, its up to you to convert them IMO.

I think a better question AM's should be asking is what is the quality of your traffic, is it industry targeted, where is it coming from etc...I think when an AM asks you how many players you can send a month it's more of "how many players are you getting with "xyzcasino" to give them an idea of how big of an affiliate you are and much they will have to pay you

Yes but I think that depends on the program to. I have found some who want to know what your ratio of numbers are so that way when they bounce theirs off you it sounds the same

btw I am really glad the AM's are discussing this. I think its a great topic!

Are you sure you get owners "asking you"?

    Really??????

I'm pretty sure you spammed my pm's on three fucking forums today, so you can be sure I'll never promote your brand, ever.

Great topic. I agree w/ everyone. Kaus made a great point, I hate AM's asking me that.. What's really irritating is I know several rooms I send 75-100 players to a month, I have a sweet deal with them, But THEY FAIL to properly convert the traffic I send.

So, how many players is irrelevant, and player value is subject to how well the rooms marketing department does their job. It's OUR job to get them there, it YOUR job to convert them.

I see a trend starting to happen and its about time in the poker and casino industry. I think rooms are finally realizing they no longer can just give a bonus and have a flash website to get players. they need something extra, they need to actively market to their players, and they need to take care of the affiliates.

The last part is becoming more and more important. Over the last few months we have seen what motivated affiliates can do when they work with one purpose. I truly think that made some rooms nervous and opened their eyes to the power we have.

Back on topic. I don't like or deal with AM's that ask me what I can do for them, they need to be telling me what they can do for me. If they cannot sell ME on their product, I'll never sell it for them.
