Picking the right template for a new site

I had the urge to get some new stuff designed this past week and actually make use of some old domains I had laying around. Here is a great question that really has some importance, "which theme should I pick from?" I am a fan of Wordpress and there are definitely some nice designs out there. In fact the ones I saw on Smashing Magazine were really slick, but are they gaming friendly?

I am going to try and stay away from the overused ones, like Revolution and the others, but still pick something cool. I love the fact there is a CMS to go with the WP themes as well to help me stay organized!

My friends at UBD really have a cool one as well that's set up for money making blogging (ie: Shoemoney, John Chow, Zac Johnson etc.) but it might work. I am leaning towards using it. Check it out as well: Affiliate Theme.

There are so many to choose from it's hard to decide.

I read somewhere that green was the color for gambling sites. Did someone actually do a study on that?

I think ones that have what you want where you want (ie:sidebars etc) and easy to use and attractive is what I would go for. The success comes with your brilliant content.

My biggest thing with some of these designers is that either they make the header so freaking huge that its like the site is trying to say :Look at me! Look at me!" and it really takes away from the site...I know slotsgeek was huge at one point and we've even trimmed it down some more recently and thats made an impact. I have no idea who the hell thought big headers work but they absolutely suck

That affiliate theme site though kills. Especially having the ability to customize your layouts

Here is the remix one Greg. This one is loaded with stuff but gives you 50 different templates to choose from and a bunch of other features. Its pretty easy to use
