I read this story today and it really got me thinking about how large ad networks value their affiliates and where they set their priorities. In gaming, there aren't many programs with 15,000 affiliates so we don't see this as much. However, as some programs start to become absorbed by larger groups and networks I could see non-active accounts being shut off at some point. I thought their quote was interesting, "The performance marketing industry needs to grow up, put away the childish toys, and make some real money"
Anyhow, here is the story, it's an interesting read.
