    Read the tips

Its really not hard to get into google news as long as you follow the requirements they ask for. (note you need the unique numbers in your urls - check the url requirements in the link below)

Technical Requirements - Google News (publishers) Help

btw toss the banners, affiliate links and anything else thats promotional. News sources arent out there to drive traffic to affiliate links - they are supposed to publish news. Most gambling news sites suck big time. and the ads you see and spammy news they publish likely came after they were approved.

Anyway have a look at the link above. I've yet to see anyone get turned down when you follow the instructions - they dont ask for much.

They sent you an email right? It's a real person at the end of the email - and I'm pretty sure they tell you why your site was rejected. Use that feedback.

*I could just post the requirements - but w/e

Thanks Kaus for the info, I never did get an email from them only that they had received my application each time. and I thought I might get a instant rejection when they saw the banners.

All try taking them down and go at it again.

Read the instructions from the link I gave you. There are a few different requirements - and they are MUSTS - not just suggestions.

Ya and there is a lot of them , I am going through it step by step this time, I hope they send me a rejection notice if it doesn't work this time as i applied 4 weeks ago and haven't herd a thing since.

    DOH!! moment...
It helps to read the email they sent me... I didn't reply to the email for them to review my site, thinking it was just a confirmation email/ spam

LOL its a legit email and you'll be emailing a person so don't try to push your site over the top as the best of the best of the best. Just be honest - although if it was me, I would likely fix whats wrong before sending that back. No need to send them back a reply and have the person review the site to see its not meeting the requirements.

Display a three-digit number. The URL for each article must contain a unique number consisting of at least three digits. For example, we can't crawl an article with this URL: http://www.google.com/news/article23.html. We can, however, crawl an article with this URL: http://www.google.com/news/article234.html. Keep in mind that if the only number in the article consists of an isolated four-digit number that resembles a year, such as http://www.google.com/news/article2006.html, we won't be able to crawl it. Please note, this rule is waived with News sitemaps.

I hope that your right about this one as i have recently submitted a site to be considered and i opted to overlook this 'requirement' due to the fact that i didn't see the value of placing the number into the url.

Should they come back and tell me different i would be willing to place the link into the urls but i will have to wait and see.

Fingers crossed that i can breach into the News area of google as that would mean that i would be able to drive a vast amount of traffic to the site

If you are using Wordpress there is a Google Sitemaps XML for Google News plugin.
