Default What do u do to kill procrastination?

Open question, i got so much to do, i know exactly what it is, seems like i only get a few things done each day and procrastinate way too much. I always thought i was really motivated but atm im just lacking a bit of motivation. So yeah, what do u do to become more effective and productive?

Someone here listed this method awhile back and I like it a lot.

Keep two to-do lists. I keep 5 things on my 'Today To-Do List' and then an unlimited number of things on a second list. Every time I finish two things from teh shortlist, I add two things from a long list.

That's in addition to using reminders from outlook and my cell phone.

I also play the real estate channel, because I love real estate and want to own lots of it, and I keep motivation pics up on the edges of my monitor, on my wall, and in the middle of the dry erase board.

Cars I want, the ocean (Where I want to live), colleges I want my kids in, places I want to see... Although it did cross my mind that google those images was it's own form of procrastination .
    I write about:
    • Poker
    • Sportsbetting
    • Bingo
    • Casinos
    • Forex
    • Online Dating
    • Real Estate

Kind of on the same page as LadyHoldem, I try to come up with a plan I want to accomplish for that particular day/week, when I wake up not knowing what I am going to do I tend to wonder off. Write a list and set some goals short term and long term and I think this will help you stay motivated.

Sometimes you just gotta man up - Not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but really thats what works best for me.

Sometimes I just gotta say to myself...

"Corry man the f up and make it happen. What is your competition doing right now? Quit being a ***** (<-- that can be 1 of 2 words, depending on the hour)"

Yep, calling myself names, and putting myself down does the trick.

Sometimes you can spend more time trying to figure out what tricks make you productive, when you just gotta grind and make it happen.

To-Do lists do help me, but sometimes they can be more overwhelming. Looking at all that stuff you gotta do. If you know what needs to be done, then just do it and don't find excuses to talk yourself out of it. It is always fairly easy to find ways to convince yourself why you can do it later.

The bottom line is that I know for a fact every single successful affiliate on this forum has worked extremely hard, long and very intense hours. However, I know a lot of those same affiliates are no longer on the forums, and they go to foreign vacation spots for months at a time with no communication at all, and just disappear - because they can. This is not a complicated business. But procrastination will kill you.

Before you know it, you procrastinated all week, and your competitor already has another site live. Its 2010, and most of the ballers of the poker affiliate world have been around since 2005 or earlier, and they have resources. If people like you and I are going to catch up, we have to work harder and smarter.

    Another thing...

The hard part is getting started. The first 1 minute of any given task is always the toughest for me. Once I start going though (no matter what mood I am in), I don't stop until I am passed out on my keyboard.

    Just gotta grind...

Fortunately for you, everybody procrastinates. Thats why you have to convince yourself that there is no room for that in your business model. It is a simple way to gain a significant edge on your competition.

NOTE: I am always thinking of ways to be more efficient and organized (like different systems, do-to lists, etc.). You didnt ask that though.

    There is no trick....

    Just make it happen.

I like to sleep on it.

Seriously though, for me, it's all about time management, being organized, and doing what's important first, along with kicking yourself in the ass to get it done.

I thought all us affiliates work until we pass out on our keyboards! LOL

In my case it is work until my wife comes and say "turn it off, or else..." LOL

Seriously, I recommend you look into the system GTD (getting things done). Works for a lot of people.

Cognitive Behavioral Techniques can cure just about anything to do with the mind. You have a classic case for CBT and procrastination.

Disclaimer: I procrastinate like a mother fucker now but the CBT thought processes worked up until I quit giving a fuck and didn't need or want to live a life of constant work. Life is too short to be doing something you don't want to.
