Default Writing an Ebook Using Your Website Content

What are your thoughts on creating an ebook from content already written on one of your websites?

Lets say you have a big content website with several topics that would fit nice into your ebook. Why not use the same content?

Some concerns would be some of your visitors and members might have already seen some of the content and not see any value in the ebook. Although sometimes it is nice to have everything condensed and laid out properly even though you already have seen the content.

The same thing might go for creating a free report. When new visitors see your site and opt-in to your free ebook, they probably haven't seen much of your website content anyway.

Just curious on everyone's thoughts, this can be for any niche.

Personally i think that if you were to create an ebook that offered the exact same information that your website does, you could well be facing alot of angry customers.

I would create new, unique content personally.

You can create unique content, and reference existing content. So if you mention heads up strategy for instance, and you have an ecellent article on it already posted, there's nothign wrong with throwing in the link to it. But the ebook should be unique.

Seems like a good plan to me... you could use your best quality material as the basis, format it as a course (or whatever) and then add even more value for your readers on top.

I have seen this done and very successful. The person use his content to make a ebook and added more information in the ebook as well. So the break down of the ebook is 75% is content from the site and 25% new content. He also had an audio version made. So he sales it like this.

    ebook only
    audio only
    ebook + audio

Believe it or not this format drive a lot of extra sales. Some people are better learners from listening and others need to listen and read along. So this is surely something to look into.

Here's his personal blog that shows his sales from his project and other stuff.

Don't you think the subscriber would be pissed about the free gift being offered on the website.

No, if you offer it as a free ebook then the subscriber can cover your own website information in one sitting and not clicking on page after page to read your whole site.

Another thought is offer a free eCourse. Each email in your followup emails in your mailing list is a summary with a link to a page on your site. That way your visitor is visiting every page on your site and you have a better chance converting that visitor.

This is my thinking too. An ebook will keep everything on topic in a easy to read format. Also makes an easy reference later.
