Default What one thing would you change?

Executing a plan is important in your success as an affiliate. Looking back over the 2008, what one thing would you do differently and why?

    Ill start.

I spent most of 2008 playing in the stock market and looking for more brick and mortar investments. Looking back, i should have added more content to my main sites and created more mini sites.

Addressing this in 2009, I plan to complete my existing minisites and focus on adding at least a page a day to my main sites. I will do this thru my lovely wifes assistance in the writing arena and continue to look for capable poker strategy writers. I will also try to spend more time mentoring and working on networking with my fellow affiliates

I think the biggest mistake I made in 2008 was not being hands on enough with my site.

I had someone else in charge and just kind of guided them as to what I wanted done, without taking enough responsibility. I should have either got more involved myself or got more people involved to create some real activity, get each other motivated etc.

So 2009 is about grabbing hold of this project and concentrating on that. I've made a fair amount of investments in other sites and never got personally involved enough in any of them.

So I'm going to be doing a lot more work personally on the site (technical ability allowing of course) and make sure it is my main focus business-wise.

I've set myself some targets and will enforce punishment upon myself if I don't meet them.

I will stop working on multiple projects at once, that never get complete.

I am going to start a project and finish a project before working on another one and stretching myself too thin.

I am also going to plan better and think my ideas thru before reacting on impulses and diving right into a project.

Hard to find one thing. I think I should have focused more on a having 2-3 high quality websites rather than building and buying 20+ websites. I'm a one man show more or less, so I have been spread too thin and all my sites suffered because of it

I bought some really nice sites and they were killer deals, BUT I bought too many in a short period of time and they never got fixed up or anything. I should of focused on completing one site before moving to the next one.

    I didn't write enough content in 2008...

In 2009 I am keeping track to make sure I am writing lots of content for my sites.

    This ^^

I'm good at multi-tasking, dont' get me wrong, but in retrospect I think ideally it's better to hammer on one project at a time until it's perfect. I've got quite a few sites that are 50% good or 70% good, etc.

I've got the hatchet out right now and I'm focusing on 3 sites to get them perfect, then I will work down the list in order of importance.

I've also limited my to do list to a max of 5 things per day.

Trusting ppl on facebook.... Had a few bad experiences this year with setting up advertisement deals from " companies " that contact me through facebook but they don't deliver. So a word of caution. I guess just a dumb mistake by me but you learn from your mistakes and they weren't big so no worries

I would change the fact that I didn't play more .10-.25 PLO on Stars. Just kidding.

2008 was a crazy year for me that started out great and went downhill from there. I made some terrible investments outside of the poker affiliate market that I regret now, oh well.

Similar to what Raider said, I also placed my trust in the wrong people throughout the year. The one takeaway I have about 2008 and even 07 and 06 is the following:

Moving forward I am going to be the CEO of Jeremy Enke. If I want something, I am going to go out and make it happen on my own. I have also gotten back into more hard core affiliate stuff. For a while I got sucked into the politics of operating PAP and all the business deals that go on behind the scenes in this industry. I hate to say it but I miss writing content and building new portals.

Other than that, I am going to try to be a good mentor to those affiliates out there that I am currently working with.

Also I barely drink anymore, I am working out, going to bed at a decent hour, and trying to eat healthy. <--------I don't suggest any of this shit to anyone.
