    Default Google's Font?

Does anyone know what font Google uses for their SERP descriptions?

    Or any guesses

    Looks like Arial.

Plus if you view the source and search for "Arial" it shows up a lot in all that obfuscated code.

Whenever you're curious about the font, use the plugin firebug for firefox. You just hover over the text and it shows you the css details for that element.

If you're curious about a font in a picture or image, take a screenshot and crop it so you're left with the pure text. Upload it to WhatTheFont : MyFonts and they'll give you the correct font the majority of the time. They refer to paid sites however, so just type the name of the font into google and see if you can find it for free afterwards.

Its so hard trying to work out which font to use, there are too many to choose from You can't go wrong using Google's font style, their SERP results always look great (very easy to read).

Massive fan of 12px Verdana (which I think is what you're seeing in this text right now).

I'm using it on all my newer sites. I think you're subconsciously at easy and thankful every time you land on a page with an article that's in a nicely sized font like Verdana 12px. It's just no effort to read.

The other answer is "it depends". But for me, unless I have a reason not to I'm going to stick with 12px Verdana. Also, don't forget to play with line-height and word-spacing. Don't be afraid to add some more space.

Yeah this, spacing is incredibly important. I agree on Verdana, it gives a nice modern feel. If you're not well versed in it yourself, get someone that knows his/her css and crack out a banging website imo.

I like Verdana for headings and 14px sans-serif #222 for white background pages.
