    Default vblog and forum rules

    Hey

Recently a temporarily banned user told me he thinks it is unfair to ban him completely from the forum, including his own blog.

He said he might regret he has the blog posted on my vbforum so when he is banned for not obeying the forum rules he wont be able to access his own blog (and so he might think of moving it to another address)

What other admins think about this?
Do you have separate rules for forums and blogs?

And whats up with the new vb BLOGGER usergroup on vb software?

Maybe I can make this public joinable and whoever will be banned from my forums it will still update his blog? Is this possible?
    Any other details appreciated

    Cheers

Why was he banned? If his blog adds valuable content to the forum maybe you can try to work it out where he doesn't need to be banned. I have never had to deal with this issue with a poster who also has a blog on the site.

I doubt he would still blog for you or want his blog RSS'd on your site or w/e either if he is banned.

The VB blogging software is great as an addon to a board like this. For a stand along blog though, wordpress kills it.

This sounds like a way for people to try and rake a site owner over the coals if they provide valuable content.

I was never a fan of forums where people who do bad things in the industry like cheating at online poker, are given a walk because they provide useful strategy posts.

Likewise, if someone violates the rules of your site, why should they be given special consideration because they're a good blogger?

If you bend the rules for one in such an instance, you should be ready to bend them for everyone, otherwise you run the risk of playing favorites and not enforcing your rules evenly.

Not sure if all of what I said specifically applies to your situation, but figured I'd get it out.
