Default HELP S.O.S !!!? DO you promoto PKR with PKR in the URL ?

Do you promote PKR with PKR in the URL ?

    Hi XXXXX-

I’m aware that many affiliates have gotten away with using ‘PKR’ in their domain name before, however, it’s only due to former affiliate account managers not properly policing and enforcing our t’s and c’s. When you signed up with us, we ask you to agree to our t’s and c’s which as I point out below, you are not allowed to use ‘PKR’ in the domain or use PKR brand ‘marks’ which you’ve done with your sites. We have had to become more strict about this recently as many markets have now become regulated by the government and in order to obtain licenses in these areas, we’ve needed to acquire back domain names for such license applications.

I’ve discussed your account with us with our head of business development and our marketing director. We will most definitely need to ask you to transfer the domain name pkrpoker.com back to us so let us know when we can proceed with the transfer. We wouldn’t allow you to use it anyways so it would be worthless to you. We’ll also not be able to pay you commissions after this month for the other domains with pkr in them. However, you will be able to continue promoting us via your domain names that do not have ‘pkr’ in them so if you want to transfer some of your sites over to these url’s, we’ll continue to pay and keep your affiliate account open.

Basically, I’m afraid you’ve made quite a lot of money out of brand piggy backing and we have to clamp down on this universally. We may also ask for other domain names back from you which we have the right to do, but we will need to request pkrpoker.com back first and foremost so let’s begin to get that under way.

    Regards,

Pretty cordial of him really. I know they have let a lot of domains fly, but I can imagine with the domain pkrpoker.com you would run into trouble before other people.

He was also pretty cordial in stating that you have made a lot of money of piggybacking, which is probably true. I would assume you have good monthly revenue coming in from them. He didn't ask you for your other pkr domains back, but basically suggested you 301 them to sites without pkr in the domain name.

Honestly that is about that best email you are going to receive on something like this. They could have very easily just closed your affiliate account and not paid any future commissions. Yet they stated they would continue to pay your monthly revenue (that likely will come from previous piggybacking) provided you don't use pkr domains any longer.

If it was me, I would have already transferred this domain and not started a thread.

Edited to Add: I might even ask him his address and send him a gift for the holidays.

You have violated their terms, not much to do. You were proberly aware when building the site right? You can redirect the other sites to another domain and then close down the sites.

Forget about fighting it, just bend over imo

What option do you have? Do what they say or risk getting your aff account terminated.

Did you not for one second think that PKR would not be cool with this?

Unfortunately if you play with fire you risk getting burned. There was always a risk that this would happen. If they did want to protect their TM, you would have been the first obvious target.

I would imagine the 1500 euros pales in comparison to future revenues that you will earn from them, assuming you have other pkr domains that have allowed you to build up a player base. Transfer the domain and be done with it.

Maybe go after the person you bought it from. Perhaps they had some arrangement with PKR?

Focus your energy there, PKR is 100% in the right here.
