Default How do you choose your bonus codes?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on choosing a bonus code. Would you rather:
    A) go for a bonus code that relates to your website? Example: your URL is xxx.pokerheaven.xxx, and your bonus code would be something like Heaven1000
or B) go for a bonus code that relates to the poker room it is for, like PARTY2012
or C) go for a totally random bonus code term?

My thought has always been that version A could keep some players from using it because it would make them more aware to the fact that the website is making money off the signup.

Would you say that it also depends on whether you get your signups from ranking for XXX Poker Bonus Code, or whether visitors find an article on your site with a recommended room and a bonus code?

On second thought, how high do you think the percentage of visitors is who actually understand that by clicking one of the links (assuming they are "cloaked"), they are likely to make more for the site owner?

I like to create a bonus code that:

    1. easy to spell - hard to screw it up. no O's or 0's if it is not clear what it is - a simple word is best
    2. Branded towards my website
    3. Avoid #'s and letters whenever possible just keep it simple, easy to remember and easy for someone to tell their friend even if said friend had never been to your site.

Here are my favorite (in no particular order)

    EXPIRED
    N/A
    NOCODE
    SOON
    ADDHERE
    BONUS2005
    PLACEHOLDER

Personally, my sites are so sick that I still make mad bank with "PLACEHOLDER".

Anyways, seriously buddy, I like Bonus codes that convey the promotion. For example:

    BONUS200 : if you're getting a 200% bonus
    DOUBLESTACK : if you're getting a 100% bonus.

You could call them promotional bonus codes. From an end user standpoint it gives them confidence, because the code advertises what it actually does.

For example, I wouldn't trust Jonas69 .. Could be a bonus code for something else, and the offer is not well defined.

    Sebby 2 cents.

I prefer going for branded codes. This makes people assume that it is an exclusive offering just for visitors of my site.
Of course, this means that I support Spry's opinion on this subject.

What I would not do is include numbers like 600 (because its a bonus of up to 600$, and what do you do when the bonus is increase to 800$)?
Same for the year: So you go after HEAVEN2012, and guess what you will have to do on January 1st 2013...
