    Default Development advice

I had plans set a foot for one of my sites to change the structure of the site and basically make it a bit more user friendly. Now I had planned to make the changes before the end of Jan, but over the past week or so I've seen a jump in serps and traffic as a result has been at an all time high for the site.

So, my question is, do I go ahead with the changes, which I genuinely feel will benefit the site and the user 'experience' or do i stick with how it is and it continues to improve .....if it aint broke.....

It's still a relatively young site and we aren't talking about massive UV's each day, but the increase has certainly been relevant. My only worry comes that the changes have a negative effect in terms of SEO or anything like that.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

All depends on how profound and intricate the changes would be. Would they undoubtedly lead to more user acquisition, conversion or e-mail signups? Then do it imo.

Many others before you have simply constructed a new website while backing up the old, and if the new one (theme, structure or otherwise) does not perform as expected they revert back to the old layout. It's part of the game to split-test things like these, there's no way you can establish future performance with certainty before trying.

I'd do anything that's in the interest of users or improves your site.

Just an FYI that none of the pages will be removed, the only thing that will change is the URL of the homepage, so instead of mysite.com that specific page will now go to mysite.com/page1 and then the mysite.com page will be of the new layout. thanks for replies so far!

Maybe spend some time to study your traffic. Monitor where they go on your site where they stay, where they scroll, click, look. There are a few programs that are fairly affordable that will give you all of this data.

Information is power! and from this you can determine more easily if a redesign would be productive at this stage.
