I've really come to prefer branded domain names over weird exact match domains. If you don't have the cash for something big, go with a brand name - plus it leaves you more room to expand later down the road.

The Moses Bet name is funny but I've never forgotten the domain either. I know exactly which site you're talking about and didn't even need to visit it. The "Moses" always made me think of something religious from the bible. Not sure if that's just me though.

If you have a better .com sitting around (or can think of one) I like Stock's idea. I also think that if you consistently build out top notch content and bust your ass, the domain does not mean much. Look at some of the other successful people out there with weird domains.

If you became known for putting out high quality content, connecting with your visitors and giving people real information, you could just snap up PenisBet.com and do just as well imo.

Long story short, I think you'll do fine with either option.

You don't need a really good domain to make it brandable, but it should be half decent and related. I don't really like MosesBet at all as I can't picture it with anything betting related at all. My domain name "The Sports Geek" is cheesy and has "the" in it (which they chirp on the social network movie) but it is related and people remember it.

My top two searches over the last 30 days:

    the sports geek - 828
    sports geek - 759

I would scrap the MosesBet domain somehow and start with a fresh brandable domain that somehow relates to sports betting.

I like it, I like the site, I think a good example is GoonerGuide. ok hes Arsenal there not the best but lets not focus on that. I have sites in the mma thing, there is this one site that has a name that means absolutely means nothing, its not even a word but it ranks right up there for the terms for that niche. Your site looks good, been around for a while, why not? worst case you buy a domain 301 it.

I personally love it. Imagine the side bar 10 do nots of betting written by Prop. Tho shall not.... I think your mad if you dont use i especially if our not making money with it. If you do decide to go with a new name, Ill make you a nice site you gimmie the one you make no money from : ) I think I would win in that deal.

Its grand fro a sorts betting site, think Bruce almighty, think Gooners Guide think Zewkey. Nice site do it!

My opinion differs about the name. I actually like it quite a lot and feel it's relevant to sports betting. It's brandable and has "bet" in the domain, how can it not be relevant?

Sports betting and poker have similar backlink profiles. If the site isn't making you any money, I'd get another domain to host the existing poker content, then use this domain for your sports betting venture.

You'd expect the sports betting site to make you more money, so you can leverage your backlink profile giving your project a nice jump start.

Even though you'd be starting fresh with your poker site, it's not currently making money, so you're not really missing out on anything.

The relevancy comment was referring to "bet" - "moses" is what makes the name brandable.

And I know you're referring to that 99 hand, which I actually won! Don't hate me bro, just because I am thinking one level ahead of you.

I don't even remember what 99 I could be referring to though, I was just trying to make a sentence with moses bet in it, nothing personal. I don't/hardly ever participate in discussing poker hands on a poker affiliate forum, playing poker doesn't really tickle my fancy anymore. But nice misplaced burn.

Oh ok. I was thinking you didn't participate in strat threads because... actually I will bite my tongue, in fear I will get banned for my overly negative comments again from a certain mod.

Hope your planning on having lots of top 10 lists

I like the name as a brandable name, don't think I've ever seen the site, but when I saw the title of the thread I immediately knew it had been around a while, although I assumed it was an old authority site on betting.

I'm going to keep the name Mosesbet.com and turn it into a sports betting site until further notice, at least until I get my hands on a really good sports betting brand domain.
