    Default Budapest Affiliate Conference Thread

Not sure where to put this as there isn't an events type area so hoping here is ok - The good news is that I will only post my updates here so you can use a single place to discuss BAC and find out what is going on.

So first of all the site is live and more importantly the main hotel is now availiable to book Budapest Affiliate Conference We have 250 rooms held with an option to increase this to 350 - It will 100% sell out so make sure you book this ASAP if you intend on going.

The difference with the hotel this time around is a) its cheaper, b) it includes tax and breakfast, c) it is bang in the centre and d) it has a casino!!!! We will be running free shuttle buses to the event venue in the mornings and back in the afternoons so no worries re the taxis.

I will keep updating here but its looking dam good at the moment - We have around 30 exhibitors already, some awesome conference sessions and 3 of the 4 networking parties booked.

At the moment we are hunting out a key note speaker so please post any suggestions and we will do our best to hunt them out

Excellent - Yea - We told our hotel booking people that we have to start beating the online rates (which is bloody hard) and that it has to include tax, breakfast etc- This hotel looks pretty cool as well. I haven't stayed there but have seen where it is and the location is really good..

Bit nervous of the casino - Could be dangerous

I will sticky this thread. I am predicting that Budapest is going to be a huge event this year. It's nice to finally get a new venue besides the same cities we are all used to.

    Nice work Alex!

cool, I don't want to derail this thread. But my business has finally grown to the point that I can justify a couple conferences this year. After reading J's thread about "too many confrences" I just have to ask, why should I come to this conference over the next one, or the next one?

I know theses are great for networking, but I can do that at any of them right? So what will make this one better than whoever puts on the next one? You don't have a keynote yet, so we don't know what value the actual conference will have. Who else will be speaking?

Again, not trying to start BS, its an honest question. I've heard nothing but good things about all the events you do

That is a bloody good question - In terms of content we will be posting all that on Tues/Wed next week - personally I think it looks great ranging from market specific sessions such as country focuses like Russia, Germany, Poland and Hungry through, verticles such as Sports betting, generating online players from offline poker events, through to online marketing topics such as link building strats, paid search, SEO panels - We also have a one on one SEO surgery running throughout the day.

With regards to comparing it to other events well I would put Budapest in the London category i.e. Big huge event with lots of programs, delegates and conference sessions on a wide area. The other category is the niche vertical events we are now working on such as Madrid in October and Sydney in Dec - These are only for people in those markets or looking to get into those markets, i.e. Madrid is for the Spanish speaking market so all sessions will focus on that and will be in Spanish with live English translation - At those events we expect less people and smaller stands - The focus is much more on small group networking and conference sessions.

So London vs Budapest - Well if I was considering going to just one of them I would look at the following:

Cost of travel between the two
Cost of Hotels between the two
Who is exhibting/attending (operators and affiliates)
What are the conference topics - Who are the speakers
Which city would I prefer to go to
Which is better in terms of timing for my business and personal life

This list could go on and at the moment I am writing as I think - Fundamentally I don't think there is a huge difference between the two bar the fact they are in different cities, have slightly different speakers/exhibitors and lastly London will probably have a lot more delegates and backs on to ICE so you can visit that too. My advice is go to Budapest if it fits in your budget and if its a success for you and helps your business get bigger then you may easily have enough money to visit London too

I'm booked for 10 days in Budapest, taking the wife this time and add on a little vacation to the trip.

For those of you thinking about Budapest, I would highly recommend it. I've been there 3-4 times and it is a completely kick ass city with lots of cool stuff to see and do and also its not nearly as expensive as major Western European Cities.

I'll be there from the 5th to the 15th if anyone comes early and wants to hang out.

Completely agree with you - I love this city, crazy night life, incredible sites, ancient spas, awesome value = what more can you want? A holiday is a great idea, are you just staying in Budapest or are you going to other places too?

Budapest is already on my calendar. The city is beautiful and I would say far safer than Barcelona or London.

Any new affiliates considering attending any conferences I think the first one is always worth it. The operators should make it worth your time and you would be surprised how helpful some of the veteran affiliates can be. I expect a large turnout for BAC.
