The keyword 'download'

I just wanted to gather a few thoughts on how valuable you think the word 'download' is mainly in domain terms.

Obviously 'pokerroombonus.com is a good domain for a mini site, but do you find that pokerroomdownload.com is a good converter too?

This is just unsupported theory...

I suspect that the "download" keywords may be harder to rank for, since some affiliates are making dofollow links with text like "download pokerroom" to the pokerrooms download pages.

I think the term is derived by affiliates wishfully thinking people will actually search that term. And one site has seen another site do it and so on and now it's nearly as common as bonus code pages

But maybe people do actually search "pokersite download"?

It's the #2 suggestion for Pokerstars, and the #1 suggestion for Full Tilt. Using the Google tool, they [pokerstars download] and [pokerstars bonus], and [fulltilt poker download] and [full tilt poker bonus] get about the same number of searches.

Yea they both get about equal searches. In my experience with my PKR bonus vs PKR download sites.....the bonus one obviously converts a lot better, but the download site does convert now and then. As for the player value you can't see that with the PKR stats because all of the campaigns get mixed together.

download does well, but its getting nearly as competitive as bonus code terms

Gets a decent amount of searches, but conversions suck. I suspect this is because people searching for "pokersite download" already have an account and just want to re-download the software.

I'd rather have a download search any day. Someone searching for "bonus" will go to a dozen sites. A person needs one link to download.

True till they enter the cashier and see "If you have a xxxx bonus Code enter it here" then move back to google to search xxx bonus code

For me download terms have been pretty solid, especially when I was the number 1 result for the pokerroom download query.
