Default Easy Backlinks: Using the content you have.

I was reading an ebook on PPC marketing tonight and came across a really simple, yet effective strategy that webmasters are using. I am not sure how relevant this is right now, and I am sure it will be frowned on by the SEO's out there as old school. However, I did a little research tonight and found it still viable, and free!

As you're creating (or buying) content to add to your site I am sure you're thinking of which terms you'd like to rank for and gain some links from. One thing you can do is take portions of the articles and reviews that you've added and upload them to free article sites like ArticleCity.com, GoArticles.com and EzineArticles.com to collect free backlinks. If you can manage to get a link or two into an About.com article then even better!

This thread on Digital Point has a great list of places to submit articles too. Skim through and give it a try.

Do you use like 10% of the article, and just submit the same piece to all article sites?

Hey Jabber, yeah I would usually do what PRWeb.com did with the intro (summary) of the article but add a little cliffhanger to the end. Just make it short (100 words) with your anchor text somewhere in there. I like endings like, "the key to his success was using the new basic strategy method of..."

Something that accomplishes the SEO bit and entices people to click over. Double bonus effect!

Wait, why would this be better than rewriting the content to submit to an article directory?

I might have misread so I'm asking for clarification.

A good SEO would caution you about that resource discussion not because it's "old school" (in fact, Old School SEO tends to work better than New School SEO) but because many of those sites may now be using "rel='nofollow'" on their outbound links. I have not check the article directories for such linking policies, although it's my understanding that many of them have indeed updated their linking policies over the past couple of years.

The Digital Point thread, for what it's worth, is 3 years old and may no longer even be useful. I know some of those article submission sites still exist but the search engines handle such backlinks differently now anyway.

If you publish content on other sites, you should do it for the visibility and traffic it brings you, not for link power.

I've done a ton of article marketing in the last couple of years in a variety of competitive niches and it still works for obtaining visitors and back-links.

A lot of high PR article directories are still do follow including Ezinearticles and Goarticles. Most articles need to be 250 words or more for submission and you should re-write them as a teaser to visit your site for more information. Some directories don't allow gambling articles.

There's lots of free info on article marketing on Google and YouTube.

I'm surprised that more poker affiliates aren't using this powerful marketing technique.

Hey MJ, I have to agree with you that re-writing the article and submitting it would be a little more effective, but a little more work as well. This is primarily a mass-marketing move where you do a quick snip and clip section of every piece of content on your sites.

Dave, great advice here man. I like that link and you're DoFollow blogging tips. Good stuff

Great thinking - my 2p's worth is that regardless of the details, there is a solid business principal here - ask yourself whether you are getting the maximum benefit from everything you do, you might be surprised how often you can leverage those efforts!

As my personal Strategy in Article Submission, I do consider Keyword Density in all my articles. If you want higher rankings not just backlinks in article submission, better give credit in your Keyword density.
