    Default CMS sites

Just wondering what recommended CMS style sites are out there that are real simple to use and really nice looking?

I am used to doing PHP sites in Frontpage - but am thinking of trying some other things - and also making a personal site for myself.

    Any leads?

    Thanks!

Wordpress hands down. Google loves it and it has a great backend.

Once you learn about all the coding, it is highly customizable.

    Any more opinions here?

Maybe people could start listing examples of real sites out there for comparison, etc...?

I run www.holdemreview.com on wordpress. If you know basic html and css, you can do pretty much everything with it. I really need to learn how to use the custom fields though. Check out Mike's WP based cms he just released for an excellent example of what can be done with Wordpress.

Nick - love the little circle graphics for the rooms - I see a lot of people are using them now - where did you get them?

I'm getting beaten over the head with the answer for wordpress as being the best CMS. I haven't used it or tested it but they seem to have made the most progress. Other options would be joomla or drupal.

Wordpress is fine but I stil think you should keep your main pages static. Wordpress has some great plugins but because you cant say yes I want the plugin to work for thsi page, this page and this page you have additional stuff which is not needed on your reviews/bonus pages. An example would be the java thats being used right now for the slide shows on the main pages. Yes it makes the main page look pretty but that java script is also loaded on each additional page, as is the additional plugin codes/scripts, whether they are needed or not.

If I use wordpress its essentially an addition to a site now,,,not the main site or I make sure my important stuff is stripped down and used seperatly

*biggest pain with wordpress for me is load time on alot of the themes. They seem to take forever and I am on highspeed, I can only imagine what a dial up user or others think*
