Interesting interview and it looks like the next big thing for Calvin is Poker!

Actually, Calvin is not in charge of Bodog Poker...Calvin is BodogBrand.com and helps to identify potential Bodog brand licensees, licenses out the brand to these licensees, and provides Bodog branding initiative guidance to all Bodog brand licensees as we want a consistent branding message across all Bodog branded products. Wow, mouthful. ha haaa. This is also the company I work for, BodogBrand.com (and CalvinAyre.com once it is launched in the fall)
So who is in charge of Bodog poker? Patrik Selin, our newest Bodog brand licensee!! Patrik is running Bodog Poker (an aggregate of all the poker traffic of all the Bodog branded sites with a direct entrance at bodogpoker.com) and the soon to be launched, bodognetwork.com. He has a background from PokerRoom/Ongame Network, so many of you may be familiar with Patrik and his work. His first mission is to improve the Bodog poker client, with the first upgrade due in October. There will be a number of fixes, including proper late registration in tournaments, an improved betting slider, and so on. After that, the plan is to have monthly upgrades.
I will keep you posted- more official details and PR surrounding our newest licensee will be released mid-month and at the BAC and EIG.![]()

This is also very confusing Becky. To summarize BodogBrand makes its money by charging a company a flatfee/percentage for using the word Bodog in their brand. How does this not compete with the current owners of Bodog, did they not make Calvin Ayre sign a non compete clause or something equivalent as the word Bodog could get confused on who actualyl owns it.
If I for arguments sake was to start a website just doing slotsfo which I owned the software and rights (so as an operator and not affiliates) and I wanted to use Bodog within the name such as bodogslots.com. How would I go about doing this?

Bodog Brand looks like there is where you'd do it Simon.
I definately agree it's confusing, it's big thinking that's for sure. Hopefully tracking links work properly when redirecting to all these other domains too.

Yep, MJ you got it.
This is the simplest way I can describe it:
Think of a franchise model. BodogBrand.com (the company Calvin is still involved with) is the franchiser. The Bodog licensees are like franchisees. In the Franchise model, the Franchisor monitors the brand and the quality of the offering in each operator to ensure conformity to the brand.
Calvin sold the Bodog.com operation to MMGG in mid 2006, so he is no longer an operator.
Anyway, if you have more q's, come find us at BAC...we'll explain in person![]()

Looking forward to this one... maybe I'll have a chance to tell them how a single exchange of e-mails with their so called 'EMEA Affiliate Manager' was enough to trigger me removing Bodog from my entire network earlier this year - should be fun!
