Default Business case questions for poker strategy site

Hi - I'm planning to set up a site focussing on poker strategy for advanced players and then trying to convert these visitors to real money poker players at new poker rooms.
I'm modelling a business case and would like to get your opinion on the three main drivers of that case:

    - With how many unique visitors per month should I plan, one year after the launch of the site?
    - What could be a realistic figure for the conversion rate (in %) of these unique visitors to customers (real money players)?
    - With which monthly $$-revenues per customer should I calculate - assuming a standard MGR deal of 20-25%?

Thank you very much for your comments - I'll later post the figures I am currently planning with.

    Strider,

Best of luck with your new venture. Your questions are pretty open ended and can vary based on a number of factors..

    - With how many unique visitors per month should I plan, one year after the launch of the site?

    > This is very hard to determine. This depends on how much content you have, what keywords you are targeting, and how well you market your site. Some people can get 20K visitors/month in the first year while others can get 20 visitors per month the first year. It really depends on how well you market the site and how good your content is.

    - What could be a realistic figure for the conversion rate (in %) of these unique visitors to customers (real money players)?

    > That will also vary but I imagine with some good content and landing pages that are geared towards signing up new players, you could expect between a 2%-5% conversion from visitor to signup.

    - With which monthly $$-revenues per customer should I calculate - assuming a standard MGR deal of 20-25%?

    > Again, this will vary based on #1 and #2. I've heard from most affiliates that stick with it, that you can expect around maybe $500 per month after 1 year. But that is so variable I don't like to throw out numbers but I often hear that.

    Best of luck

Thank you Mark for your time for answering my questions.

The third question was about my revenues per customer per month, not total revenues with all customers - according to a blog post here at PAL I guess that it's more in the area of 20$ ?

$20 per customer seems very low. This will depend on your traffic as well.

For example, if you run a "free poker", "no deposit" type site, your player value will be much lower than a site with strategy and reviews, for the most part. There's no hard and fast rule and there are many exceptions, but I think you understand where I'm going with this.

What do you think about this article from TonygPAS: http://www.pokeraffiliatelistings.co...mer-worth.html ?

He mentions that a customer generates 520.31$ over a lifetime of 2 years, which would result in revenues of 21.7$/month.

Unless I'm wrong he quoted 8% of player MGR at FT = $223 in his pocket over 2 years.

That means players value to FT was $2878 over the same period less bonuses and commissions/rakeback.

However his target market are more likely to play more and grind at one level or above.

That number kind of fits because I have been quoted figures as high as $750 RMP player value to the poker room from certain areas of the world at some sites. ($750 x 2 years = $1500)

Lilttle wonder they don't mind paying CPA's of $75.

    Thank you.
Are there other opinions on how much revenues a player will generate me per month, assuming that I have a strategy site targetting the more experienced players and with a MGR of 20% ?
