Geo-Script for Affiliates

I'm hoping someone can help. An affiliate asked me for a script that directs US traffic to a US poker room and NON US to non-US poker rooms.

For instance, when they click on a poker room link for SunPoker for instance, and they are in the US, they will be directed to a US poker room like Full Tilt instead.

Any ideas?

I'd suggest to him that he display content based on the users location, not choose where to send them when they click on something.

If I was a user, and a site took me to one location, despite my clicking on a different one, it would be the last time I'd be using that site.

Another option, would be in the event of a user clicking on a room they're not eligible to play in, display a message informing them that XXX room does not accept US players.

Huge usability flaw, IMO, if someone does what you've described.

Well Mike, I've looked it over quite a bit, and I believe this ones going to be out of my league. I am good at certain things when it comes down to internet web things, and others I just don't get. Basically what I need done is what Mark was telling you about, however, there has to be an alternative other than this method and I know there is because I used to use it one at cpays.com. Whe I would login there, I could fillout a form and it would give me the java code to add to my page, once I edited the code with the pages to direct to it would then start pushing us traffic to 1 link and non-us traffic to another, but since cpays.com moved to a new domain, that code isn't available anymore.

I would like a user to be able to load up -- lets say my main webpage the; index.html -- now as soon as that page loads, I would like to automatically detect either a) if the user is in the usa or b) outside the usa, and if a person is inside the usa then I would like it to re-direct them to a page with usa poker rooms only, vice-versa, if someone is anywhere outside the USA they are automatically redirected to another bonus listing. This would definetly be a good thing since alot of the poker rooms are no longer accepting usa players then there is no wasted traffic.

I am not saying MaxMind isn't worth checking out, because I believe it is, I just don't think that I would ever get it to work how I need it to, unless of course you want to help me out, I could possibly throw some money to your paypal account if it was setup how I would like it to be.

What platform are you using? If you can use php I can give you a pretty good step-by-step that won't take too long.

I have a linux business account, and yes I can use .PHP -- I used it for my VBulletin. Appreciate the help, have not ordered this product yet, it costs $50 and I haven't purchased a license yet or anything, just want to make sure that I can get it setup properly and working effectively for me before I do, I am pretty sure I will need some serious help doing it.

You don't need to order anything, there is a free version and EVERY country I've ever tested was always spot on. You don't need anything complicated either, in your case they are either from the US or they are not.

I'll post back here with a brief tutorial.
