Does anyone know how tournament blackjack works?

How does an affiliate get -$900 in tourney blackjack in one day? Just curious. Never played this before.

Ya - How does the game actually work? Is it just regular blackjack and winners move on or something...or is a big negative a win against the house in some way? I don't get it...I figured it was similar to tourney poker, where you pay a fee and then get X chips and play until elimination or victory, etc... but it can't be that way as that would be ONLY +rev...
